I can't for the life of me work out why Jared Rivers is so expensive compared to Nick Stevens (in SC). Both played 3 games last year, Rivers averaged 78 and Stevens 87.

We know Stevens and Hartlett have been discounted from the Prospectus. There are likely to be about another 10 out of 100 who would qualify who will be picked at random by VirtualSports to also be discounted. We'll just have to wait and see.

Hi Monty,

I've been having a look at the prices as you have them on the Footy Planner and as the Prospectus has them and I think I've spotted a consistency which will reveal most of the discounted players for 08 (still don't know how they worked out Adcock last year or Goodwin in 05!!). Of course there'll still be a few surprises.

Played 0 games in 07
The formula to calculate their price appears to be 0.581*2006Av*4343.
eg. Coughlan price = 0.581*77.6*4343 = $195,806 (Prospectus says $195,800)

This appears to work all the way down to an 06 average of approximately 33.1. A player who played no games in 2007 and whose 2006 average is below 33.1 is given the draftee price of $83,500.

Played between 1 and 3 games in 07
The formula to calculate their price appears to be 0.7*2007Av*4343.
eg. LRT price = 0.7*76*4343 = $231,047 (Prospectus says $231,000)

This appears to work all the way down to an 07 average of approximately 27.5. A player who played 3 or less games in 2007 and whose 2007 average is below 27.5 is given the draftee price of $83,500.

Based on the above we can expect to see a few other players discounted: eg. Ed Barlow, Jared Rivers to name 2. There's also others.

Also based on the above I think people will be disappointed in that Goddard's price will be as advertised with no discount. Of course only our friends at Virtual Sports know the truth!

Rivers is listed in one of the Prospectus teams and hasn't been discounted.

I love you monty, in the least gayest way possible...

Not that there's anything wrong with that :D.

I concur with whoever said they're hoping the prices are correct, my team comes to $100 within the salary cap as well (although I was absolutely shattered that I was $100 short of getting both Symes and Reilly :(, any chance of a discount?).

Loved the little notes on each player as always m0nty, more woulda been nice, but I'll still love you all the same (in the least gayest way possible :D).

hey monty
i picked up the afl record for season 2008 yesterday and it has all the players positions and prices in it and a few differ from fan planner.

eg Brent Prismall $218,300
Ed Barlow $198,600

wont be a lot of changes but a couple could make a big difference to some plan sides

cheers mate excellent site

Where did you get the 2008 afl record from?

And are there any other significant discounts that you noticed?
