St Kilda massive over achievers this season. Carlton to be on the brink still need more goalkickers than Fevola. Richmond will continue to move forward. Brisbane wont improve much and Melbourne and West Coast are still the worst looking lists.

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

Geelong - still the best team despite the GF
Hawthorn - Pretty close to geelong but not there
Collingwood - Im not going to downgrade them becuase i go for carlton they certainly have the team for a top 4 spot
Bulldogs - Its hard to win important games with the forwards they have
St Kilda - I think there backline kept them in the finals this year and if they can play the way they did in there final matches they might able to get a top 4 finish.
North - The'll have an average year and dean laidley will hopefully get sacked.
Brisbane - Voss will improve the club alot just not so much in the first year.
Carlton - I will be happy with this result. I dont think we have the foward line to make a damaging aperance in the finals.

Adelaide - Not to many stars but with no injury could see them end up about 6th
Richmond - This will be the tigers last year in the bottom 8 for a while.
Freo - Freo is looking to be going up in the following years.
West Coast - I dont think the players think they can win too many games and with the players thinking like that they wont.
Port - I cant see them moving except down.
Sydney - The next Melbourne?
Essendon - not enough young players. I fell sorry for prismal would have been better at carlton
Melbourne - Not this year

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

1 Hawks 2009 was allways there year dno bout 08 buddy will have kicking boot on and will be the team to beat
2 Geelong great list dont look there will be going anywhere and will look for revenge will dominate early on
3 Collingwood great young list plenty of talent to come out with thomas and pendles and nathan brown will improve same with orbrien just up to young forwards
4 Carlton number 1 draft picks fevola judd and hurly in back for them surly there will get top 4 or something is wrong lol but will be in top 8
5 Stkilda ethier saints 4th depends on cousins and there midfeild can click well there whole team there got the list to do it
6 Bulldogs depends on recruting need tall forwards only thing lets them down
7 Richmond not sure anyteam can fill these spots delido will come out firing and cothin to and nathan foley and add in coughlin will be a premier midfeild and looks like there gonna add in sidebottom just need a forward but could be in yarren to add some spark
8 Fremantle im gonna take a punt palmer will be a star everyone has forgotton bout hazlebey and desland i recon tarrent will be in career form and will team up with pavlich add in nick natanani or daniel rich there will be great players and will show some spark and freo showed there dangerous in last 11 games and only lost 6 games under 5 points
9 Kangaroos wont make the cut
10 West Coast got a great list would not be surprised if there got top 8 there deffently tanked this year depends what there could get in the draft will be dangerous in 2011 and 2010
11Adelaide what there showed in finals i think there ship has sinked i say there will give the young kidds a go
12 Brisbane new coach will try get things right will win a couple games at start but will drop off there will recruit well with voss who was in the ais accadmey
13 Essendon wouldnt be surprised if there were lower maybe 16 things will look better in 2010 and 211 but one more year in bottom 8 to improve list
14 Port Adelaide depends on recrutingg really ya never no with port but ill say there will tank
15 Sydney got nothing to prove i recon there will tank give the young kids and try develop but will be better in 2013

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

TEAM WINS

Geelong 19
Hawks 17
Bulldogs 16
Saints 16
Tigers 15
Pies 14
Carlton 14
Swans 12

Bombers 12
Crows 11
Kangaroos 10
Lions 6
Freo 5
Port 4
Eagles 3
Demons 2

From 6th to 10th could vary but I foresee the teams mentioned in that area to stay there. Carlton and the Tigers to be big improvers this year and Saint to be far more consistent performers in spite of having Crack head Cousins weighing them down.
Roos and crows to slip noticeably.
Swans to have one last okay year before slipping due to ageing list.
No end in sight for Demons to their shocking run, Eagles to remain cellar dwellers and Freo will be highly touted as a top 8 team but will once again fail to deliver placing massive pressure on the position of Mark Harvey.
Bombers to improve due to a fit list and top players palying consistent and solid footy, keep an eye out for Alwayn Davey.

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

I'll have a dig..

1. Hawthorn
2. St Kilda
3. Geelong
4. Bulldogs
5. Richmond
6. Collingwood
7. North Melbourne
8. Essendon
9. Fremantle
10. Adelaide
11. Carlton
12. Port
13. Brisbane
14. Sydney
15. Melbourne
16. West Coast

St Kilda are the true smokey for next year for mine. The "cousins" effect, assuming it happens, could be a major deal for them, and his delivery combined with Riewoldt's leads could be amazing.
I see the Tigers and Bombers (of course) improving big time and Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Carlton all going backwards.
I may be being a little unfair giving the Eagles the spoon, but to be honest the entire back 8 is something of a guess for me.

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

I've used my dart board and crystal ball and come up with this lot...

Hawthorn - should back up pretty well after a big 2008
Geelong - still ooze class, but it is tough playing 25 matches every year
Collingwood - a good blue collar side, but still lack a bit of spark
Western Bulldogs - a lack of good talls is restricting them
Kangaroos - they always surprise me; could do it again!
Carlton - very young list and should continue to improve in 2009
Richmond - a bit like Carlton; should improve a little more
West Coast - a young list; seniors should have fewer injury worries in 2009
St Kilda - just hanging in there by recruiting older players - going down
Brisbane - may struggle to get to grips with new coach & systems
Port Adelaide - still in transition from an older squad of recent years.
Sydney - an older list of good warriors that will continue to fade
Adelaide - still in transition from an older squad of recent years.
Essendon - still reworking their squad and game plan; could improve
Fremantle - a very big loss of experience from last year; may struggle
Melbourne - have a fair way to go in rebuilding.

Premiers: Geelong
Coleman: Fevola

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

1. Hawthorn (will only get better)
2. Geelong (pipped by Hawthorn)
3. St Kilda (Cousins will do wonders - the missing piece)
4. Western Bulldogs (still lack the talls to be a significant threat - excellent mids)
5. Collingwood (always there abouts - still young)
6. Carlton (continue to improve with Judd at the helm)
7. Brisbane (will surprise a few, Leuenberger/Clark's development the key)
8. Sydney (still not done yet)
9. Richmond (backline still too raw, watch for Cotchin/Coughlan/Foley in the middle)
10. West Coast (should not be written off - cream of youngsters to compliment experienced defence)
11. Adelaide (destined to slide and will continue rebuilding)
12. Kangaroos (will finally play to their squads ability)
13. Fremantle (need to help Pavlich, a fit Hasleby will help)
14. Essendon (still need time to gel, very young squad)
15. Port Adelaide (will struggle when Lade goes down injured)
16. Melbourne (any explanation required??)

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

1. Geelong Won't win 21/22 but will be the best during h&a again
2. Hawthorn 3rd youngest AFL list in 08, lots of room for improvement
3. St Kilda Good Backline, good forwards, need Benny C for the midfield
4. Carlton Atleast one team from outside the top 8 the previous year always ends up top 4 the next season. Blues look most likely
5. Adelaide Lots of kids getting better, quickly
6. Bulldogs Will win their fair share, but still lack a key forward
7. Collingwood Backline is a worry against key forwards, but MM will see them into Sept again
8. Brisbane Should have made Sept in 08, Voss/Brown will see them there in 09.. just

9. Fremantle Hard to place, reckon they're on the cusp of Sept action
10. Port Adelaide Lost a lot of close ones early in 08, if they reverse that, could do well
11. Richmond Backline suspect, no quality key forwards other than richo, can't see it happening for the tiggers
12. North Melb Rely too heavily on too few, and they are getting on in years
13. Sydney The end of this groups run, Roos needs to play the kids
14. Essendon Lloyd, Lucas & Fletcher are all that will keep this list from the spoon
15. West Coast 09 will be the last year of blooding the kids before the quick rise back to the top for the eagles
16. Melbourne The rebuild has only just begun
