2009 Membership Tally

How many times do I have to tell you num:eek: the telethon has been ongoing, so to speak.
Each week the players are given 20 people to ring- on an ongoing basis.

This is far more productive than one night of calls.

Didn't know that, good to hear.

Don't get me wrong kl, I think 29k is a really good result:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

This is what I think we should/could do... every lapsed member for say 2 years or more . Offer them a 2 for 1 deal , rest of this season + next season free. We'd I imagine still make money out of it and it would give our 2010 membership a kick along. Nows not really the time for " but its not fair cause they get...." We'd all win out of the deal as we want a financial club and like most things once you get back in the habit of purchasing a membership , you may keep doing so. Seems there's a lot of smoke n mirrors in the AFL , about time we got involved. I for one am sick of hearing about how we still should of gone to the Coast. And i also believe we're over the 'hump' and our on-field success is definately on the improve. And yes 29 000 is a solid effort , we should be proud and I think regardless we will keep on improving our membership base from here.

I've always said 29k+ should be our benchmark this year realistically, with 30k largely symbolic.

Now that it's within reach, i'd love for us to be able to say we pulled 30k members consistently, so i'm hoping we can get those few extra members signed up.

We need to break 30k so as to be above 28k in the official AFL figures. Our overall figure is just behind the Bulldogs and St Kilda but if theirs doesn't include non game attending members our official AFL figure is going to be well back.

We need initiatives as outlined by Naturally North to get us these extra members over the May-June period.

if the two for 1 deal isnt possible - cant we just quickly create a new 4 game membership package and get it out there for the remaining home games of the season (Im assuming that it will take time to get it up and running, otherwise offer a 5 or 6 game package or whatever home games we have left giving time to setting up the new package).

At a reduced price we will get some bites and they will be counted as ticketed members. Does it matter that the season has already started? What is Hawthorns tassie package worth and how many games?

If we plan on playing attacking footbal in the next few weeks we may get some bites.

I doubt lapsed members will pay full price at this time in the year.

I spoke to Fulvio Inserra last week at the match and he said that the number on the website is the number of TICKETED members.

If that's correct, then we've got 29,000 TICKETED. Hope that's correct!

Let's hope that is true.

That would be a huge boon and would explain why our numbers have been down a fair bit on last year, we had an extra 1500 non-ticketed members on the website, plus the 1500 odd GCS game members. It would mean our numbers have held up pretty well and are really only approx 2k behind last years' figure.

It would be nice, but I reckon old Fulv has got that one wrong.

Maybe, but a lot of clubs went from reporting both last year to just reporting ticketed on the website. Can hope I guess.

Yeah, but I can't see our club letting an opportunity like passing 30,000 go unnoticed - even if it does contain non-ticketed.

And Fulvio is a good bloke, but he is not switched on to shit like this.

We can hope though. Would be awesome.

lol I hope he doesn't read the forum. :p

Apologies now for my ignorance, but can someone answer me the following :-
1. the difference between Ticketed & NON ticketed memberships
2. cost/s associated to NON-Ticketed memberships
3. are NON-Ticketed members able to join the Roo for life program?
4. are NON-Ticketed members considered 'true' supporters?

I have not been able to find info on the NMFC website concerning NON-Ticketed memberships, so if you know where to look, please advise.

Ticketed memberships would mean that the membership includes access to games. Non-ticketed memberships are the ones that do not admit to games. These people are really just making a contribution to the club. I believe they get the magazines etc though. Non-ticketed memberships are not included in the official AFL figures.

Edited post to include this information from the club website...

Don't like to rain on anyone's parade but 29 thousand members doesn't mean much if only 14 thousand turn up to watch a game.

P.S. If buying a membership, you are better off buying one with game admittance (if you can afford it) so it gets counted by the AFL.

Thanks to those for the info.

I already have a normal membership (Archers club) and have done so every year since uhh a long long time. But as i live OS, also since a long time, was looking at another membership option, as i am unable to attend any games :(. it wasn't a question of money, just wanted to explore another type of membership where NMFC get the same money but can save on the games admittance ticket component, if that makes sense. $70 is not much money, and do not want to reduce the Clubs membership by reducing the cost of my own, so will continue with my exisiting mebership.

hope all that makes sense

You are a true supporter to continue buying an Archer's membership when you live overseas! :thumbsu:

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I so often am), but to be counted in the official AFL membership figure don't you technically need to have some type of right to Grand Final tickets through your membership, even if it's just the lottery? I think we once had a type of membership (Aussie Roos or something) for interstate supporters where you could attend a few games but not finals and they were not counted in the official figure.

I think it's just a minimum number of games.

5 games for most clubs to be counted, with a special case for the Hawks to also count their Tassie supporters who shell out a bucktload for a 4 game membership.
