2009 Trade Discussion - Part 4

had an easy run with injury so far, thought my turn could come. rance will be out for a bit but dunno about kornes yet. i could straight swap kornes for someone like bartel (or cheaper), but also thinking i could downgrade rance, and upgrade someone like rich (or haselby for extra $) and keep kornes on the bench with a collins coming in, and harlett right in a few weeks. kill 2 birds with one stone. that would leave me with just one mid to upgrade later on. still have 15 trades. bit loath to get rid of kornes, always been a dt pet of mine even when i was shit at DT, and now modest mid 20k's.

Just read an article from tmrws Herald/Sun written by gary Ablett Jr. Says he might be right for next weeks game against the kangas, at worst he says he'd be right for the dogs the week after.

Bet those people that traded him out now are regretting it.:D

Nope got Corey :) so looks like Ablett will have to make up 240 points on Corey over the year and 80K. Plus it could so easily flair up again, he will be rested coming into finals, mark it down now.

Got no cover in the backs with Hodge and Bock looking dodgy, so will potentially cop 2 0's next week (unless Broughton or Cheney get a game)

Got Kornes in the midfield with Beams/Robinson on the bench, already have to play Picken and Rich.

Rucks ok, Forwards have M Brown and Hentschel on bench, but no donuts on the field.

Only got 12 trades left and really don't want to burn them for injuries, but what are people likely to do with any of Bock, Hodge, Kornes? Don't know whether to keep and bring in a playing rooking or to just sideways to another keeper. Team is starting to fall apart and there's no way I'll have enough trades to have a team of 22 keepers.

If you're going for a league win I would keep Kornes and Bock for sure. They should be back in a couple and will help you get more premiums into the team for the finals.
Im not sure about Hodge, not fit and being tagged. Not a great combo if you're supposed to play the QB role

Yeah, pretty torn at the moment whether or not I'm going for the league win... currently ranked in top 60 so overall ranking is a concern too.

At worst, I could trade in a rookie next week for Robinson, and use that cash to trade Hodge to a gun so I keep Kornes, and have a backup playing.

This is terrible... still 3 games to go that I've got to worry about!

kornes has an ac joint injury so i would be surprised if he plays again before the mid season break he'll probably be gone 6-8 weeks

don't listen to the speculation. kornes may yet be out for only 1-2 weeks. no reason to trade anyone if he's only going to be out for two weeks. even two 0's is not worth a trade, no chance.

remember also that in your team your trade targets should firstly be your weakest players.

no use sideways swapping cornes to bartel to avoid one zero if that means that you've still got rich or beams for another 8 rounds in your midfield.

Yeah true... given the amount of injuries in every position now, might just have to suck it up and deal with a couple of 0's.

Probably have to give up on overall ranking now and concentrate on league... worth a little bit of cash, and I'm undefeated so far with some easy games coming up.

Will be interesting to see the high scores this week... expect 2000 to be a great score.

Yeah stuff trading these premiums in and out all the time, I waited a week to see what Ablett was up to and all might be well there, will also wait a week for Kornes and see exactly how bad things are. Think I will just stick to my plans otherwise I will be still playing 6 rookies at rd 22.

I need a second ruckman and I've been watching Mumford (Geelong) pretty closely. Geelong are getting heaps of possessions and he looks capable of averaging from 70-80. I'm unsure because he's rookie-listed and I don't know if he goes back on the rookie-list after a certain amount of games because of a long-term injury.

So could someone clarify this and tell me whether he is eligible to play the rest of the games this year?

Looks like it might be the week to pick up Cooney. He looked like he was back to his old self today and is still pretty cheap at ~$320k
Yeah, depending on the extent of the injuries in other positions (Bock, Hodge, Higgins, M Brown, Kornes) I might trade Robinson and Beams to Cockie and Cooney. Would at least give me some point scoring potential in the middle rather than playing Picken each week!

There are actually quite a few attractive Dogs across all lines after todays game:
Gilbee (Def): new price - 318K
Cooney (Mid): new price = 324K
Cross (Mid): new price = 369K, but 139 BE so will drop again next week
Murphy(Fwd): new price = 366K, but 135 BE so will drop again next week
Gia (Fwd): new price = 325K

And they play Melbourne next week.

Will certainly be chucking Cooney into calculations this week or next week, but i only have Rich or Ottens available, unless of course Kornes is announced as definately out for 6+. Ottens is no where ready to dump yet.

I really really need to get rid of Petrenko.

Otten is 265k with a BE of 50
ill be trading him for Corey.

Do you consider Jack Grimes this week? Admittedly, I haven't watched much of the game (halfway through a politics essay due tomorrow...) but he picked up about 90 points in quarters 2/3. Very injury prone and is a big risk but if he stays fit he could sore.

Yeah why not, couldnt be any worse than having Petrenko stinking the place up.

if Grimes has another good week and Houlihan doesn't pull the finger out I'm going to do a rare sideways/downward swap to get myself some cash.

Kane Cornes -> Cooney if the worst is announced (Cornes out for 5+).
