Or you could just say you lost to a team that was clearly better than you. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, people remember Collingwood's last performance, even though they were one of only four teams that were still alive in the second last week of the season. Collingwood had nothing left in the second half against Geelong, because they were clearly feeling the effects of the weather conditions against Adelaide, and the ridiculous six day break leading in to that match, while the Crows had an eight day break. Scott Pendlebury is Collingwood's most important player as well, and is irreplaceable..
Of course the can go backwards. Any team can go backwards, form isn't related to age. I think Collingwood will finish top 4 but I wouldn't be surprised if they finish 5th-8th. They should make the top 8 though. You seem to say the same stuff every year, yet it never eventuates. Collingwood will be winning flags after Malthouse is gone imo.Secondly, opposition supporters don't like Collingwood more than any other team, so most of these people rate Collingwood lower than they should, even though both the seniors and the VFL team made the Preliminary Final this season. I don't take any notice of these people though because any team that wins 12 of 13 matches and is as young as Collingwood, should have a lot to look forward to. The club is very well run, and there is no way that the team will go backwards nest season. I'm interested to see if they are active in trade week this year though.
