There are two reasons for this. Firstly, people remember Collingwood's last performance, even though they were one of only four teams that were still alive in the second last week of the season. Collingwood had nothing left in the second half against Geelong, because they were clearly feeling the effects of the weather conditions against Adelaide, and the ridiculous six day break leading in to that match, while the Crows had an eight day break. Scott Pendlebury is Collingwood's most important player as well, and is irreplaceable..
Or you could just say you lost to a team that was clearly better than you.

Secondly, opposition supporters don't like Collingwood more than any other team, so most of these people rate Collingwood lower than they should, even though both the seniors and the VFL team made the Preliminary Final this season. I don't take any notice of these people though because any team that wins 12 of 13 matches and is as young as Collingwood, should have a lot to look forward to. The club is very well run, and there is no way that the team will go backwards nest season. I'm interested to see if they are active in trade week this year though.
Of course the can go backwards. Any team can go backwards, form isn't related to age. I think Collingwood will finish top 4 but I wouldn't be surprised if they finish 5th-8th. They should make the top 8 though. You seem to say the same stuff every year, yet it never eventuates. Collingwood will be winning flags after Malthouse is gone imo.

Interesting to observe the down marking of Collingwood. Only Geelong/St. Kilda have won more games since 07 than us & the bulk of their sides was built on the 00'/01' (Geelong) & 00', 01' & 02' (St. Kilda)drafts.

Collingwood is largely focused on the 05' & 06' drafts (12 of the 22 against Geelong was onwards 05' draft).

Do you know what's even funnier?
How you think whore-thorn will make the 8.

No-one expected us to make the 8 and we did. We have a shot at top 4.

Hawks are useless, they won't bounce back, I give the demons a better chance at top 8 than the hawks, hawks are a damaged side, with retirements hurting them. Wake up a little.
Do you even watch afl?

Tom Harley will be our only retirement in the backline, he is a great leader but it wont make too much difference with him retiring. Josh Hunt coming back as well will strengthen the backline.

 He wouldnt even be in the top 10 players in the comp yet you think he can single-handedly save you from the bottom two?

Give me 10 players ahead of Goodes.

not trying to have a crack a the swans but how could anyone have them anywhere but bottom 2.

we still have a great core players that'll lead the next group of swans... which is a fair bit of talent, but the refusal to be anything but competitive + decent talent will ensure we don't finish bottom 2.

In my biased opinion; these are in no particular order
1-4: hawthorn, st kilda, adelaide, geelong
5-8: w. bulldogs, carlton, collingwood, west coast
9-12: brisbane, fremantle, essendon, sydney
13-16: melbourne, richmond, port adelaide, north melbourne

Brownlow: L Hayes
Coleman: L Franklin

1) STK...Clearly the best team ATM..And will come back harder, Goose will get a game and Goddard more time running up forward as a result
2) WBD..Key Forward the improvement
3) Geel...Despite Harley, Millburn going will make 3rd because of 11 games at home, wont do anything in finals though..Not as good as 2 Flags would suggest
4)Brisbane..Obvious improver
5)Carlton..Natural Improvement
6)Pies...Always there abouts
7)Hawks...Wont be as bad as this year
8) A Lottery, Essendon, Adel, WCE

Clearly.....:D

1) St. Kilda - Should win a heap of games with a list chock full of guns.
2) WBD - With Barry up forward they wont go further back than 3rd. This may be their year,
3) Adelaide - Forward line is AWESOME! Backs and mids as solid as ever. looking good for 2010
4) Geelong - Will slip to fourth. Have been good for the last 3 years and will have a crack at flag number 3/4
5) Carlton
- Midfield will do alot of the heavy lifting with again the bulk of the attacking work on Fevolas shoulders. Should make a run for the 4 and fall just short.
6) Hawthorn - Should be back this year to their top form but with 5 better sides ahead could only squeeze them into 6th
7) Collingwood - Deserve to be higher. Will probably finnish higher. but meh, no room here for them...
8) Brisbane - good side, good players. Good enuf to squeeze into 8th.

9) Essendon - Will be the unlucky ones.
10) North Melbourne - Having alot of faith in Brad Scott here. If he can get the most out of this team i see them with enough talent to finnish 10th
11) West Coast - They have some talent on their list but will need to develop it in order to finnish higher.
12) Port Adelaide - No heart. Players want out. Mark Williams has some issues to deal with.
13) Fremantle - I like what they have done with the youngsters but will still need time to get games into them.
14) Sydney - On the decline in 2010. Still have stars but not many.
15) Melbourne - NOOOOO good still but developing.
16) Richmond - New coach + Massive clean out = Wooden spoon.

wow... bitter? geelong are a great side. 65 wins from 75 games over 3 years for two premierships is amazing. if theyre so bad, why didnt st kilda put them away in either of their matches?

Football is a funny sport, StKilda appeared to have you bent over a table for 3 quarters. Hawthorn certainly forced your horrible score card in the 08 GF, you went wide under pressure all day and it cost you, the free men they had resulted in less pressure and a cleaner score car.
StKilda where just plain crap infront of goals and because there backline came up to put pressure on your midfield there was always the chance they would lose out, eventually they did and you capitalized.

Anyhow your far to good in the main season to drop below fourth as he clearly showed.

Also guys do you feel that Westcoast are a chance to beat the likes of Geelong and StKilda next year if we play them at Subi. They were less than convincing at Subiaco this season.

1. Bulldogs
2. Collingwood
3. Geelong
4. Carlton
5. St. Kilda
6. Brisbane
7. Adelaide
8. Hawthorn
9. Sydney
10. Essendon
11. Port
12. West Coast
13. North Melbourne
14. Fremantle
15. Richmond
16. Melbourne

agreed. geelong played quite horribly, and still managed to keep themselves in it. stuffing about with stupid handpasses, johnson was terrible, not direct. still managed to get there, though. geelongs backline was amazing, saints kicking was off, maybe due to weather, geelongs wasnt. think what you want about the club itself, but theyve been a very good team for 3 years now. thoroughly deserve two flags. if a team cant come up with a way to win that might not result in a "chance they would lose out" they arent exactly a far superior team. consider the injuries the cats dealt with. excellent team, excellent season.

Sounds like the grandfinal loss really, really hurt:D

Give me 10 players ahead of Goodes.

Hmmm this is only opinion but I'd say Ablett, Selwood, Scarlett, Judd, Franklin, Riewoldt, Brown, Pavlich, Black, Fevola, Hayes off the top of my head are better IMO.

Not single handedly but we have way more class in our experience/middle aged players compared to the other bottom four teams. If he isn't top 10 he is extremely close. If we are so shit how did we almost beat you at the end of this season?

I think Sydney have a few good players(Goodes, McVeigh, O'Keefe) but apart from those they are very average. Why did Kangaroos beat St.Kilda? Why did WCE beat Bulldogs? Upsets do happen, even with the worst teams up against the best.

Im afraid not.

1 - Western Bulldogs Will have a ripper of a season,
2 - Adelaide - also big year but will fall apart in the finals again
3 - St Kilda - Wont be going as hard and will conseve their efforts for finals
4 - Geelong -Still stong, wont fall from top 4 yet
5 - Hawthorn - Will be much better then 09 but not as good as 08
6 - Brisbane - Still developing
7 - Carlton
8 - collingwood - Need more experienced players

9 - Essendon - Lucky to make it this year, should be still around the same place.
10 - West coast - Getting better
11- Sydney - Bottoming out
12 - Melbourne - Will win games on purpose now
13 - North Melbourne
14 - Fremantle - slowly improving
15 - Richmond - New coach and cleanout
16 - Port Adelaide - Still ordinary and the internal fighting will give way and their season will crumble around them

I remember reading somewhere that on average there are ~ at least 2 teams from the bottom 8 that the make the top 8 the following year. Just checking the ladders from 2006 onwards this has been the case.

So going on this lets see if we can pick two clubs from the bottom 8 to make the finals and the two teams to drop down. Im not saying it will happen but statistically speaking theres a high chance it will.

Essondon and Brisbane to drop to bottom 8

Hawthorn and one of West Coast/North Melbourne to play finals footy

my thoughts anyway.

1. St Kilda
2. Adelaide
3. Western Bulldogs
4. Geelong
5. Brisbane
6. Hawthorn
7. Collingwood
8. Carlton
9. West Coast
10. Melbourne
11. Sydney
12. Essendon
13. Port Adelaide
14. Fremantle
15. North Melbourne
16. Richmond

9. Collingwood
10. Essendon
11. Sydney

This is ******ed on a couple of levels.

1 - Western Bulldogs Will have a ripper of a season,
2 - Adelaide - also big year but will fall apart in the finals again
3 - St Kilda - Wont be going as hard and will conseve their efforts for finals

If adelaide can make second and play home games with the side they have now they should make the GF previously they have been dependent on certain players that were struck down theyve also tend to have run into the sides that beat them all year convincingly on their home grounds.
Teams generally don't win through from outside the 4 as they were this year.
Craig needs to stop being a ****** against colingwood and they will be pretty fine.

after 22 rounds my guess (without knowing lists etc obviously )

adelaide
geelong
bulldogs
sydney
brisbane
carlton
stkilda
hawthorn

collingwood
fremantle
richmond
nth melbourne
west coast
melbourne
essendon
port adelaide

this isnt very logical more a hopeful ladder but submitting as a guess to see how i go
