If he has a few more standout matches he might. Gwilt, Fisher and Blake have been very good this year. Gwilt and Fisher are more likely though because they have the attacking side to their game.

I've still got to put Milne somewhere. Fisher and Gwilt would be next in line for the Saints.

the problem is they dont go together at all .

the basic reason why hodge and goddard are ahead of ablett in terms of value and influence is because they play for sides that are not as good, why would you take into account the ability of the side a player plays for when ranking players ?

Another way to look at it is if Hodge played in Geelongs midfield he would be by far the best player in the comp. I am an Ablett fan but this year has been his least impressive of the last 4.

Ablett is NOT the most influential, the best or most valuable this year...which is what the thread is all about. He may be by years end. Get over it.

Hodge holds on to no.1, just. Pretty much equal 1st after Goddard and Ablett had good games. Moved Cooney a bit lower but maybe too much (Dogs fans can tell me who has been better out of Griff, Lake and Cooney).
Happy with the top 30 now but I've moved the rest around regardless of form on the weekend. I'll gradually lean towards defenders and forwards more, rather than just picking mids. O'Brien, Frawley and Cross just miss out.

Interested to see the reasoning in Goodes being in the unlucky list. IMO he shouldn't be there but make my day AG, make my day.:p

EDIT: Noticed there were no Cats players in the team! Is that a first? Wait there is Selwood

Seriously awesome list, everyone will have different opinions but without being biast I really couldnt argue with it.

Buddy 41 with a bullet. In reality if buddy's form is good for the rest of the year how high could he possibly go (assuming that the top 30 are consistant).

BTW well done aussie gun. you're a gem.

Buddy at his best is the best in the comp so top 10 is still well in his reach.

Love your work AussieGun. How exactly do you choose how much a player goes up/down?
I started the season giving a player a score out of 10 and just moving it based on totals but I scrapped that a few weeks ago because it wasn't really working. Last year I just used my head and I've gone back to that method now. Still not happy with a few rankings because I've still got the rankings in the back of my mind but it'll slowly take shape.

Agree with Griff, Cooney then Lake, but I think Boyd has probably been the most consistent of them. I'm guessing the 2 games he missed would be why he is much lower than the other 3? I think when he has played he has been outstanding, only one or two quiet ones.

Boyd doesn't seem to be having the same impact as last year. I'm trying not to worry about games missed anymore (within reason).

Do you guys see any point in having an unluckies list? I end up just listing too many players and it probably takes some focus off the actual list.

Yeah Boyd has had a good year as opposed to last year when he was outstanding, is still winning enough of ball and doing the hard stuff but the effectiveness of his disposal has been down and is also not kicking goals like he was last year. Griffen,Cooney and even Cross have been better IMO.

I like the unlucky list as it gives an insight as to who is that next tier down that could come onto list.
