What's the story on the Kewell to Victory rumours?

My understanding is Victory have offered $5m over two years. Kewell's agent has shot this down. And one of either Kewell or his agent have shot down a return to England.

Personally I reckon he'll end up at Sydney for no other reason than it is his home town.

He was on the NRL footy show on Thursday and it seems like he's no chance to be in the A-League next season. Practically ruled that option out, but he did say he'll eventually come back and play here just not now. Obviously circumstances can't change but with his comments on thursday, I'd say A-League is not an optionfor him next season. Gut feel is he'll end up in France/Germany.

This.

I feel that it is too early for HK to join the A League, especially considering the sort of form he has been in at NT level recently. Perhaps one more season in Europe, play in London 2012 as an overage player, and then back to the A League?

We've officially signed that Dutch fella.

...and so have the Gold Coast.

http://au.fourfourtwo.com/News/206069,gcu-swoop-for-van-den-brink-pal.aspx

FORMER Gold Coast United now Perth Glory defender Bas van den Brink has given his old club a farewell present with the recommendation of new signing, Paul Beekmans.

Beekmans, 29, joins United from Jupiler League outfit SC Cambuur-Leeuwarden and looks an impressive capture on paper, having played nearly 200 games in the top two divisions in the Netherlands between 2002 and 2008.

Standing at 191cm, Beekmans is an imposing figure and will add much-needed physicality and experience to a Gold Coast side that has lost defensive lynchpins van den Brink and Dino Djulbic and turned its focus to developing its two-time National Youth League champion squad into first-team footballers.

Looks a good signing for them.

Rumour has it that we may be close to signing Fred... not substantiated whatsoever but it'd be a handy signing, how old is he now?

Also have heard of 'Maicon' who is a CB?? No point trying to google him as there is probably a million of the same name out of Brazil!

I can tell you I'm 99% sure Fred HAS signed, Maicon was just a speculation, but there is another brazilian coming, a young attacking player. This was the Maicon that was speculated initially - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maicon_dos_Santos

Fred is 31 and still playing very well over in the MLS, he is said to have signed on pretty low $ deal (~$200k a season) which is very good for us.

There will also be an experienced CB curently playing in the Dutch Eridevise to be finalized, Levchenko was revealed as 1 but there are at least another 2 of whom we are in contact with.

I'm saying im 99% sure ;)

Also I hear there may be a little bit of uncertainty with 1 of your International players, but I'm not to sure how it will unravel, give 1-2 weeks IMO.

Fantastic news on Fred, if he can play at anywhere near the same as he did with Victory then that is a massive win.

The bloke from the Eridevise sounds good too! Can't wait for October!

Gold Coast have signed Dylan McGowan from Hearts on a loan deal.

They are recruiting smartly to get good results...however the signings they are making aren't exactly going to get bums on seats.

Who's going to leave Cavill Avenue on a sunny Sunday afternoon to travel 20 minutes to go and watch Peter Perchtold?

There is talk of his older brother, Ryan, coming back on loan too.
