Re: Round 18 Captain

Bartel. Starting to hit some form after his head (was poor versus Essendon, better versus West Coast especially after he took a strong overhead mark going with the flight and gained confidence out of it, and was one of Geelongs best vs Brisbane).

So hoping he continues this form, trying to choose different ones each week and see how I go (to an extent, I'm almost back to choosing Swan/Pendlebury)

Well, you do what you want mate.
But I only have 2 cats in my team(jim being one) and Jimmy has never been skipper this year. And never will be.
Something is not right.

As I posted in the Geelong thread it may be a role change. But all of his contested work numbers are down this year. Including tackles and frees for and against.

And his kicking is still off. He never used to miss targets like he is.

Food for thought anyway.

Re: Round 18 Captain

Voted Pendles but had no idea he might be carrying injury so could be sub or subbed of. That puts me if him abit and Swan also because he might be sub/ subbed off. Gaj could pull of another game like last years prelim against them so i'm tempted to go with him. Dal Santo's record against the crows and his last 5 matches are also impressive.

Re: Round 18 Captain

Petrie:
With what pods did against the lions last week and petrie's performance last week, I'm guessing no-one at the lions will stop him getting 150+.
Have more or less thought that Pendles will not play. Why risk him against GC?

That's not a bad idea actually :thumbsu:

If there is any doubt, I'll go Pendlebury, as I've gone for Boyd and been burnt a couple of times as he usually follows up a big game with a sub 100 :(

Re: Round 18 Captain

No love for Goddard? Huge fall from grace.

Who would the crows play on him? has got it for mine:thumbsu:

Exactly, so why risk it?

You have Pendles and Swan up against GC. Gablett back to perma captain form. Cox against a second tier ruckman. Hawk players up against Melbourne.

Plenty of choices

Re: Round 18 Captain

Have to split it between

Cox (if there is no Sandi)

Pendles, Swan (playing GC)

Rockliff (in great form and playing North)

Boyd (has burnt me to many times before)

Then my roughies are, Fisher,Goddard and Petrie

playing a big game in my league game so committed to the win

Re: Round 18 Captain

This will be a pretty hard week !!!!

Do you go

Judd, as the Bombers prob don't have anyone to really go with him ATM and their midfield looks weak.

Cox against Griffin, who has been in good form but injured last week (?)

Goddard against a crap Crows, in what could be a very defensive game.

Swan/Pendlebury against the Suns. Both could be subbed off/sub. Pendlebury has a shoulder (?) concern after last week ??? I think Swan would be likely to get full game time after his Arizona trip.

Ablett as he is a freak

Petrie against the Lions after Pods kicked a bag against McGuire last week (and Petries bag himself) considering but Petrie only scored 31 the week before.

I think it will be out of Cox and Swan, with Swan most likely getting the nod.

Re: Round 18 Captain

No mentions of Travis Cloke? Him and Petrie seem like worthy risks this week. Swan would be the safe option though.

Re: Round 18 Captain

Might go Priddis for something different. Can't see Pendles or Swan really getting a massive since the Pies should smash the Suns pretty badly. Can't see Ablett dominating that much on his own as well with such a young supporting cast.. But could be very wrong.

Re: Round 18 Captain

Thinking of going the safe option of Swan, but I have Daisy and he could be a real POD and has been in red hot touch. Someone convince me to go daisy!

Go Daisy!!! ... you know you want to.

Re: Round 18 Captain

This is maybe the toughest captaincy decision I can remember. Am at a stalemate between Pendles, Swan, Cox and GAJ.

These are the exact players I'm struggling to pick from as well. And like you it's doing my head in!! Am just about ready to rule out Swan as I feel he and Cox are the 'safe' picks, but I'd rate Cox as a better chance to get those 10 extra points. Then there's Ablett and Pendles, who both have the potential to score huge but could both also bite you (think you're good for 100+ with either though, even if Pendlebury gets subbed off at 3 quarter time).

Like Headless said: fjwbjreewabjgejnraaerkno!

Re: Round 18 Captain

If you've got Pendles and Swan and pick Pendles as the captain my hot tip would be to make Swan the VC. If Pendles is out, Swan will probably score 130+ with more midfield time and more points available to pick up in Pendlebury's absence.

It's not a matter of Pendlebury being out. It's a matter of him being designated as a sub.
