The downside of being a Collingwood supporter.

Next year will be my first year in Melbourne for a while, so I want to renew my old membership (which CFC said they still have me on the database). I only had a season ticket last time.

But it appears there's a waiting list for everything: Lvl 2 Ponsford, Legends, Cheersquad (if it means getting a GF ticket).

If I can't get any of the above, I'm just going to get an AFL membership. Unless someone can recommend me another good deal?
 
Sorry to bombard your board just thought id let u know Legends memberships were released 5 mins ago.

Legends are out now.
$840 Adult
$595 Conc

Pretty pricey, Melbourne FC has essentially the same package for $350 Adult.

Still waiting for ours to be released :(

Yeah the price increase is pretty bad....getting even harder for families to purchase these number one memberships. AND can't believe we don't get a hat included. Not that I wear them (would much prefer a scarf like the hawks do) but I have a collection of them from the past 10 years or so and not sure i'll get it now that I have to pay more on top of my membership. That sux.

If this is true Collingwood have lost the plot. They up prices AND charge you for something that has been free for over 10 years!!

What a load of crap.

I'm currently on hold ... seemingly forever. I'll be sure to vent my disapproval!
 
$595 is expensive for a Legends. I thought I was gonna buy it this season but bloody hell the club has become greedy and to not give us a membership hat included in the price is a joke. Other clubs even get scarfs included in their package. Its more expensive then what its worth and I doubt we will get to 60 000 members in 2011, our members dont get treated well enough.

Last year Collingwood was one of the worst clubs in the league with regards to members benefits. Others clubs get a scarf and cap and Collingwood members only get a cap.

Now in 2011 it appears that we don't even get a cap and on top of that the prices have gone up.

It is just ridiculous especially considering the current board have lost millions of the members money on the failed hotel investment at Albert Park which still hasn't been resolved.

Just got off the phone. Got my Legends membership, very happy about that.

Re members cap:


I told the girl on the phone to pass on my feedback (I don't know if she will).

The members cap has always been free, and it's ridiculous that it's no longer free.

She said that the club decided to upgrade to a better quality cap, and Collingwood_FC on Twitter have told me that you can get a Supporter Kit for $40 which includes cap/scarf/polo.

I said it was the wrong decision to make. We have been supporters for 20+ years, supported our club through the darkest days, and now that we're successful, you're trying to rip us off? Show some loyalty back.

She said she totally agreed and understood, and will pass the message on.

Well at least one staff member at Collingwood agrees it was a stupid decision to remove the free cap.
 
We now have to pay $40 for a cap/scarf/shirt IN ADDITION to our membership fee.

For me, who buys a basic 3 game membership because I live in Brisbane, it costs me $120 to be a member and I don't go to any games and buy my ticket for any local games.

Doesn't bother me, as I like supporting the club - but I used to $75 for the same package basically.

The interstate option is $140 + $40 for the gear, and it throws in the useless option of 5 games at the MCG. Why? I'm interstate?!

Yeah i didnt buy any of them with my legends

For $840 you'd think they give you a hat for free, i may buy the scarf next year but seriously its a bit rip off ish
 
Does the "supporters pack" merchandise even include anything about us being premiers on it? If it did i may purchase it but otherwise i might just go & buy one of those white premiers 2010 caps they were selling at family day.

Why do we need a new scarf each season?? They should just hand out patches that say "member 20XX" & then you could affix each years member patch onto your scarf.

I'm a 14 year member(since 1997 season, so Gold member) & never was offered any special member merchandise. Has anyone else reached gold & received this special merchandise they speak of??

I just noticed this, its actually a pretty good deal. Last season just the polo top was $50 dollars and the scarf was like $30 and now we can get all for $40. Having said that, they shouldnt have to make us pay extra for them, the membership prices are high enough they should just include them with the membership.

The members scarf last season was only $15 & well worth it too.

I can't help but laugh at the genius who came up with the $44.95 for a polo, but $39.95 for a pack that includes the polo, scarf & cap!! Surely no one is foolish enough to just buy the polo for $44.95.
 
The funny thing is the free hat enabled every Collingwood Member to get a hat and stand side by side with everyone else. It didn't matter if you bought a basic package, an MCC package or a legends package all the hats and all the members wore the same hat. This is a move away from the side by side.

I would like to be able to send my scarf back in and get it re-embroided ecah year. I would pay $10 each year to get this done on my old scarf. They could add a premiership cup for last year.

The only reason they would not and should not include the cap for free is if each year they print 100k of them and only 40k get used by members and 20k by others. This would result in my membership being used to pay for caps that aren't used or for caps that are used by people who are not members. The club should come out and say why they have done this rahter than just we are using better material (However if the better material would cost $15 per hat and they are selling for $10 per hat that I can live with).

I would rather buy my hat then have it included in the cost of my memebership however this would be a good way to have all member stand side by side.

Have any of the other clubs released their membership pricing yet? Would be interesting to see if the AFL have lifted the rates this year.
 
I lazily didn't pick our caps up for this year, worried I won't be able to nab any at all. The worst one not to have in the collection. They saved money not posting them and now are trying to flog them separately?

With a new house and mortgage increase from December, it's going to be hard enough to sustain our family membership, let alone start forking out money for caps and so forth.

I'd have to agree though that the cap quality is usually pretty lamo, the new ones had better be decent if you have to fork out separately.
 
Membership 2011!! Who's got 'em

Thought it might be interesting to see what people on here are going to get his year and who already has theirs.

I bought my first membership this morning. I finally have a job where I don't work weekends so I'm gonna try and make to all 18 home games this year and the game on the Gold Coast.

Got my Legends Membership and legends for 3 others at the same time without any hassles despite the email from Gary Pert last week.

It was a 30 minute wait on hold on the phone though. I hear it blew out to about 90 minutes. Not surprising really as I went down to the Westpac Centre later in the day to drop off the seating allocation form and there were only 2 girls on the phones.
 
Got mine, dad and brothers legends membership today

Called to get the membership numbers and ended up on hold for 47 minutes, the Daniel bloke was helpful though. Just need to send of the seating form tomorrow
 
I'll be sticking with the same package I have had for as many years as I can remember, and that is.

* Full AFL Member with Collingwood Club Support
* 11 game home reserved seats (Southern Stand HFF at MCG, wing at Etihad).

I am guaranteed a GF ticket if we make it, and get reserved seats to our away games for $5 if needed.:)

you can only get the $39.95 deal if you're a member.

So non members that buy polos etc each year will still need to pay full tote.
 
I purchased the 11 game Season Ticket membership with 11 game reserved seating this season.

I'll be upgrading that to 18 game Season Ticket with 18 game reserved seating. Went to 17/18 Melbourne games this season so figured it would make sense.
