And also because Jorge is a certifiable gun.

The overall standard takes a massive hit when he doesn't race.

At least Casey can almost certainly be crowned at home.

Yeah, well if you look to next year, how easy would it be for Casey if Lorenzo wasn't there.

Squeamish photo warning.

At least it just looks like the tip of his little finger, which if anything is good news considering.

What a tough bastard. Barely showed any reaction

This 125 stuff is hilarious. They're all tiptoing around and barely racing hahaha.

How tight are CH10 with their budget now? Before, with an Australian round, there would be an on location broadcast, now, they just sent Beattie over there and left the other two at the studio...no perks for Greg Rust anymore.

It's because Rusty was also hosting the F1 coverage as well, although you would've thought him and Baird could've easily done that from a commentary box at Phillip Island.

Ahh, Phillip Island. Tis always a great weekend but now a distant memory. Anyway, here are my belated notes of the event.

- the 125 race was one of the oddest I've seen. A bunch of teenagers riding in dodgy damp conditions and only one or two crashes! How did that happen?
- Marc Marquez unquestionably had the ride of the weekend, from last to third was astounding.
- Marquez was also the luckiest rider of the weekend. To take Wilairot out and put him in hospital after the chequered flag for practice and be allowed to race was incredibly lenient.
- Ant Wests bike, replendent in the Australian flag looked great. Unfortunately being taken out on the fourth corner of the first lap means I didn't get to see much of it...
- Thomas Luthi is close behind Marquez for luckiest rider of the meet. Anyone who can straightline turn one and live to tell the tale has done incredibly well.
- Alvaro Bautista generally bucked the Suzuki trend of struggling at Phillip Island. However, his crash from a strong position was through misfortune this time. My friend was a marshall there when rain began to fall. He stood up with the rain flag just in time to see Alvaro skid up the road...
- unluckiest man of the weekend went to Jorge Lorenzo. It was a nasty crash in warmup and to lose his finger, the 'bar must've come down exactly on top of it as he didn't drag under the bike.
- Damien Cudlins crash was horrible. He highsided and landed heavily on his shoulders and lost too much skin from his back and side to race. The irony was hearing his wife on the PA only 5 minutes before the crash talking about his dogtags he took off and gave to her were their lucky charm he has worn since he broke his back about 10 years ago .
- Casey Stoner was man of the round. Fastest in every session pretty much sums up his year. Hopefully he will run number 1 next year.
- Valentino Rossi has always been the best supported rider in the paddock. This year though I reckon that Stoner has overtaken him in his homeland. The amount of Stoner T's, caps and flags amongst the crowd was impressive and his merch store was busier than Rossi's. Just a shame that his merch is now the same price and Valentino's overpriced stuff.
- The weather was brilliant on Friday and Saturday and whilst Sunday was pretty average with a few showers, we dodged some major bullet with heavy showers that passed out at sea.
- Cameras work better when you don't leave the battery for it at your accommodation...
- The FI light constantly shining and restricting my bike to 7000rpm cannot be a good thing. :(

Overall, it was another great weekend with the only real downer being it's now 12 months to see them go again.

Who saw MotoGP qualifying from Malaysia yesterday? It was quite exciting with Stoner getting close with his two last flying laps but couldn't quite get it done. He's fastest in morning warmup though from Pedrosa and Aoyama who continues his love affair with the Sepang circuit. Also, The Ben has been forced to miss todays race, still suffering the effects of last weekends crash.
Marc Marquez has been in the news lately, announcing he will forego MotoGP next year to stay in Moto2. He will also miss this weekends race after highsiding on his first lap of practice on Friday morning at a corner the marshalls didn't warn of water on the track. Bradley Smith also crashed at the same corner and broke his collarbone and won't race either. Therefore, if Stefan Bradl wins he will be crowned 2011 Moto2 world champ.

Briliant 125 race! Another win to Maverick who had a great battle with Cortese and then Nico Terol nearly highsides out of the race on the last lap and looks like he hurt himself a bit. Zarco finishes third to Terol's fifth and title title goes down to the wire in Valencia. Think I need a scotch to calm myself down after that!

Also, I found a video of Marquez and Smiths practice crash. I found it truly frightening.

And Ricky Cardus won't be racing in Moto2 after the biggest highside I think I've ever seen.

That replay was sickening. His helmet coming off is a bad sign.

I felt so bad when they cut to the shot of his gf sitting in the garage :thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Bad ****ing couple of weeks for motorcycle gp racing.

Edit: Reports he is concious. Barely believeable.

Dunno what happened there....looked very scary

Looked like Edwards done a collarbone or somthing arm/shoulder related

Also looked like Simoncelli lost his helmet  don't like it when they don't show him being attended too....bad sign :(

Busted leg for Edwards I think. Was limping trackside and now in a wheelchair. Most sickening crash I've seen in a long time. Miracle if Marco survives but that's what I'm praying for.
