Partial Lock-Out
This weekend marks the final round in which the ‘partial lockout’ will be applied to SuperCoach teams. For those of you unsure as to how this affects the average fantasy footballer, it simply means that due to round six of the fixture extending over four days, we’re given an extra 24 hours to make final adjustments to our teams, right up until the first bounce of the Swans v Carlton game on Friday night. In addition, we’re able to once again exploit the ‘Vice Captain’ loophole that has been afforded to us in previous weeks.
Vice Captain Loop-hole
Basically, this little glitch allows us to have two cracks at picking a good captain this week. In order for it to work, you need a player on any line (DEF, MID, RUCK, FWD) that you are 100% sure ISN’T playing this week. Given that Fremantle, Geelong and Hawthorn have the bye, someone like Aaron Sandilands is a good choice, as choosing a ruckman leaves less margin for error with your emergencies. Play Sandi on the field, and make him your CAPTAIN.
Then, you nominate a player from tonight’s game that you think may score well (i.e. Cox, Priddis, Embley, Darling or Green) and give them the VICE CAPTAINCY. Statisically, Cox or Priddis are the way to go, or maybe even Darling if you think he'll kick a bag.
If, after tonight’s game, you’re happy with your Vice Captain’s score, simply leave your team as it is, but make sure you have a playing emergency on your ruck bench (e.g. Zac Smith or Drew Petrie). The corresponding emergency (Smith/Petrie) will simply replace your non-playing captain, and you will get your Vice Captain’s score doubled at the completion of the round. If however, if you’re unhappy happy with your Vice Captain’s score, you’ll still be able to nominate a new captain from the teams still to play. If this seems confusing, just pick your Captain and Vice Captain as you normally would.

Talking Points
- Don’t forget to sub out any Fremantle, Geelong and Hawthorn players from your teams this week, given they all have the bye.
- Given it’s again a multi-bye round (the last til round 16), there won’t be any league matches this week.
- Come Sunday night, we’ll have seen nine games of AFL played in the space of eleven days. Are we in danger of footy fatigue? Or would you love to see AFL games played regularly on Mondays and Thursdays?
