If he's delisted I'll lose no sleep. I just hate these herd mentality attacks, and have since the shameful attacks on Stewy Cochrane in years gone by.

No, it's just the simple fact that he obviously isn't AFL standard that leads to people forming the opinion that he should be delisted.

On the other hand, calls for Brett Ebert to be culled are herd mentality attacks.

Hitchcock is an interesting one.

This kid has talent. He may not be as quick as we would like, as evasive and clearly not as strong, .

was it Rd 1 vs Collingwood this year?

Had the ball in the clear, running into an empty F50 and unguarded goals

But ended up HTB with defender who chased hi mdown from 7 odd metres head start over what, 30 metres

Wasn't fast enough, or evasive enough, to outrun a flatfooted collingwood defender nor smart enough to know he might have thought of kicking it through the sticks before he got run down and there was our season

Then came back, and body packed it in within a few minutes of hardly rigorous pace

Would someone come again and tell me on what planet we keep players like this?

I could go either way with Phillips, I was a big fan but he has had 2 years and hasn't really done a thing so its hard to get behind him.

Keep Pfeiffer on the rookie list. That gives us 4 picks in the ND, plus room to add one more from another club (say a Russell). Salter is obviously a huge delist target, but I want to keep him just to see if Hinkley can see what blind freddy can see - dude's a forward.

Hopefully when Hinkley and the coaching panel sit down with Salter and ask him about his role and direction at the club he only replies with sentences incorporating the word forward.

"I'd love to help the club move forward into a prosperous future by moving my development forward, this can achieved by me playing a role deep in the forward line". After this meeting I plan to move forward out of the door, forward along the corridor to the coffee machine". etc

Or he can simply state that he believes the best type of pressure you can put on an opposition team is scoreboard pressure and he knows how to effing do that better than most in our side!

One minor concern. Hinkley seems a nice guy and has spoken about building strong relationships with the players. He may end up being too nice to delist who he should. If this is the case, he needs to be ruthless this year, ala Blight at the Cows, before he has built those relationships.

Tell Kornes and Cassisi now, no chance of a contract extension beyond 2013, if in doubt, cop now. From how he talks, Logan would become his favourite and I can't see us improving much if we retain the turnover kings of the afl.

You what? We have Surjan, Jonas, Cassisi, Pfeiffer, probably Russell, and at a stretch Blee, O'Shea and P. Stewart can all play as small defenders.

Surjan, yes. Cassisi can play as a small defender, but I don't want the only player on our list who doesn't look forward EVER being in our backline. Jonas I'd prefer to play on talls, but he's backup small defender depth if it comes to it. Russell if we get him, sure. Blee, O'Shea and Paul Stewart... no. O'Shea out of the backlines forever, if he plays (I'm not a fan). Stewart can do it, but I'd much prefer him as the utility who floats forward and kicks goals like he was this year. Blee I don't see being a small defender at all.

Compared to our midfield with Boak, Ebert, Hartlett, Broadbent, Gray, Cornes, Jacobs, Wingard and Moore... I don't want there to even be the temptation to play Thomas ahead of these players.

Edit: I forgot about Pittard. I guess we're not as light as I thought on small defenders. But I would still prefer to keep Logan than Thomas.

I wouldn't worry about any of this until our list changes are finalised and we see who makes up our 22 in the first half of 2013.
