I thought Heppell was a worthy winner. Be interesting to see how he backs up in his second year. Its always a bit tougher second year in for some reason.
Considering that Shuey got 12 Brownlow votes to 4, and Heppell won the RS award by a big margin, it is AT LEAST ARGUABLE that they took 3rd year vs 1st year into consideration. It should have been much closer. None of this suggests that Heppell wasn't a worthy winner, which is irrelevant to this thread anyway. The point is: Most of the awards have been won by 1st year players ~ because there is a bias. If you took a moneyball approach to the RS award, then 1st year players would rarely get a look-in.
