Haha I've been following them for quite a while, but this week I saw them and was just like, what? Generally I can see why Roby makes some of the statements he does, even though I rarely agree, but this week was just absolute rubbish. I just really want to see how he justifies that haha

This is what Roby-spider wants. You are now but another fly in his web.

I think he's just pushed a bit too far with this latest troll though. I love his method of making a enough of his workings plausible that you tend to overlook some of the more outlandish statements. But I reckon he's just pushed a little too hard now.

I think he's actually been conservative this week. Enough to keep you on your toes but also enough to relax and breathe a sigh of relief as well.

Beware of this false sense of security though because next week your team has their best win of the year and you're thinking nothing less than a couple of points rise, then BOOM, you're down 4 spots.

Collingwood (7th) vs Bulldogs (13th)

Both teams are blooding a lot of new players due to their high casualty rates this year. Obviously Collingwood have more class and experience so don’t expect a close game even if the Dogs are on a roll. But also because the Dogs are coming off the bye. How “convenient” that one of the few times the Pies play late in the week they don’t get the shorter six day break. It actually works against them, an easier fixture means a worse and less harden team.

Que?

We played on Monday and our next game is Sunday. Seems like a 6 day break to me.

Yeah but it's not a shorter six day break (whatever that means) and the Dogs are actually worst off for having a 2 weeks break.....

I love it. Etihad is some home ground advantage: despite playing a better side (ranking wise) only an 8 goal win will do!

By that reckoning, if the game was in Queensland you'd be expecting a ten goal thrashing by the GC (home ground advantage + being a bit better).

I don't even understand what this means... as we're playing a team coming off the bye with a 6 day break... anyway... also WTF does a "less hardened team" mean
Also, bad luck Essendon. GC have gone past you now after beating only bottom 8 teams - the domination begins. We'll be next *gulp*

Care to explain how you are sitting on 69 tips???

Sixty-nine looks better.

Again your complete ignorance is shown.

This the way the formula works and is obviously too complex for you to understand.

I just wonder if you know there are other teams beside Essendon playing in the league.

LOL@Adelaide being 6th up to last week when they have been in the shit and outsid the 8 in a position that resembled their final ranking position for last year at the conclusion of the season when they came 2nd in the minor premiership on percentage and finished 3rd losing to the runner up by 5 points in the prelim who ironically enough happened to also win the minor premiership on percentage   .

The rankings are meant to show who would win a final. Yet despite GC being higher ranked they are expected to lose by 8 goals.

You can troll more subtly than this...

Finals are in September. This week is still June and therefore different. You'll get there... maybe.

i like how david walsh developed a betting system guaranteed to produce profit - and he has around $250 million (conservatively), and the MONA.

roby developed a betting system guaranteed to produce profit - and he has a weekly BF thread.

Mate, he had the Crows out of his top 8 all of last year when we were flying. Now we suck again, and we're currently 6th. It's all bullshit.

Nah, roby's just waiting to watch the great Fitfhmond to strut their stuff the day after.

I'm surprised that Richmond are 5th in the rankings after their poor performances against Essendon, Collingwood and Geelong. Then again, they were in the game for until half time in all three of those games and so in effect they have only played six poor quarters all season. They've been very competitive this season for the most part.

The sniff test tells me they're not fifth and are about where the ladder currently puts them, but that's not scientific. I still think they have holes in their team, possibly the fact that they haven't been belted counts for something. Six sounds about right, one against Carlton, one against Collingwood, two against Essendon and Geelong. In the context of the opposition, you could say that every quarter against Melbourne was bad, but Richmond did generate 14 more scoring shots.

What do you think of sportsbet's ASAP rankings?

Look at most premiership teams or teams that reach the GF, they rarely get belted. The less often or if it happens none at all, the more likely the team is match hardened and will end up having a good finals campaign.

ASAP don't show their full rankings from previous weeks, but Troywheatley and Footymathsblog do a far better job of ranking teams. ASAP currently have North 6th. They've never been ranked higher than 12th this year. But the ASAP don't have anything to do with Sportsbet or any betting agencies rankings. They have a different ranking system and the basis for this the AFL Power Rankings.
