When you have multiple picks, history has shown the best available is taken at the higher pick and then a need or project is taken with the second pick.

Can't see Sharenberg getting past 6.

Especially as their current versatile 191cm defender Nick Maxwell is retiring and Berg's best mate is Brodie Grundy.

Will be interesting for Hine which order he pulls the trigger. In the best chance of getting his prefered 2 players?..or just his def 1st preference and so be it who is left at 10?

Would there be a chance that Carlton look at Darcy Gardiner to permanently release Henderson into the forward half?

McCarthy would obviously be the ideal one, but now it looks as if he could go as high as 6, with Collingwood and Brisbane pretty keen

True, but you guys would pick Darcy Gardiner. He will be Richards replacement.

You might be correct, but there's a case to make that Swans will pick best player available after making a shortlist. Sam Reid will be swinging back next year, Laidler has a crack at a spot now + Giles looks more what Sydney would draft... and may be there at 32/35. I think Acres would be a good bet at happening at 15 if he's still available.

The issue for Sharenberg is he is hard to define.

He is at an in-between height, at various times he has played off a HB flank, in the midfield and at CHF even.

GWS won't take Scharenberg or Aish. They never select South Australians, no matter how good they are.
The Jimmi Savage experience was that scarring for them? (Anyone planning to play really obscure footy trivia in the year 2019 remember that name—he kicked GWS' first goal in a competitive match against another AFL team.)

Yep.

Only S.A. products on their whole list are Phil Davis and Giles. Both recruited, not drafted.

I bet they would like Wingard and Grundy now.

But there is a sound theory of building bonds between players in their almost exclusively Vic recruiting strategy. It might be a very sound or a very unsound strategy, but it is at least a strategy with thought behind it.

Andrew McKay has said that we are after a midfielder with out first pick.

Not sure where that leaves our opinion on McCarthy (or maybe we think he will be gone?).

yeah true, there is no doubting Crouch's ball getting ability, if he builds a tank and gets his disposal a bit cleaner he could be a real steal but in saying that those things dont fix over night.

Are you confident that Crouch can replicate that inside ability at AFL level? against the bigger bodies?
