Keep an eye on Dom Sheed (WA Capt) he's originally from my home town and he did quite well as an under-ager last year in the Nationals. Nice size for a midfielder and gets the pill, he should thrive on the leadership responsibilities too.

Was a smokey for pick 1 last year! Will be inside the top ten now I reckon.

Very classy from what I've seen in the under 16's games!

Who does everyone think will go number 1? It's not as clear cut as previous years

i reckon this yr pick up best midfield types inside and out.
we have enough key position types
for a late pick or rookie spot i like the look of the mature player ziggie alwan frankston half forward , has been in the best majority of the weeks

Honestly think it will depend on who has it. Prob 3/4 with real claims. Bulldogs are most likely going to be only ones thinking what if, as they are more then likely outside of the boyd range.

It's going to be interesting what we do come trade week.

There's been an obvious strategy in place the last 2 seasons.

Players we have chased.

Jack Gunston
Travis Boak
Josh Caddy
Taylor Hine
Ben Jacobs
Jack Watts
Jordan Gysberts

They all fit in that Ziebell/Cunnington age bracket that the club is looking to develop. They want to bring a mass production of those 21 year old's through with the rest of some of our top end talent, they were all highly rated juniors, alot of them former first round draft picks.

There are a couple of kids out there, that I think come trade week, might seriously get looked at by the club.

The two that immediately spring to mind are: Jared Polec and Sam Blease.

Polec is injured atm, was a top 5 draft pick, struggled under Voss at times. An outside runner with great pace, good finishing skills but lacks a defensive side to his game. Would compliment a side with a big engine room. South Australian. Has struggled to break into the side, and even struggled to dominate in the NEAFL in periods.

Blease is similar, Top 20 pick, probably shown more at AFL level, had a rising star nomination, lacks some polish and has endurance issues, but like Polec has huge pace playing that outside wingman role.

Polec is turning 21.
Blease is 22.

I watched Garlett very closely in the WAFL this week, and he has improved his engine a lot since last season. His ability has never been in question. What was really pleasing was his one percenters, endless running, and tough tackling. We should definitely be after him. With the influence of Wells and Thomas, this guy could be anything in future

Pykie given the scaling back of the size of the GC list (unsure whether this is happening with GWS too) is there the potential for under utilized skilled kids to be around coming out of these clubs?

Its just I saw an interview with Mckenna saying that they would be looking to make 6 or so changes to the list. That is 6 people coming off their list that were potentially higher rated than the kids we drafted in the same drafts.

IE Jeremy Taylor, Jacob Gillbee

Kids that haven't been able to crack it yet but went 50 in their draft year and between our 2nd and 3rd picks.

Probably the one I'd be looking at is Jack Hutchins.

He's not going to get delisted, he's in their best 22 atm, but he's around the fringes (like Hine) is a Victorian, incredible athlete. Probably fills that medium defender need. Super quick at 191.

GWS will definately be in the trade market for some mature aged KPP/Ruck type players to compliment their list of basically 20 y/o's, maybe car keys would be a possible swap option, wouldnt surprise me if they went after currie strongly, but i wouldnt want to lose him

They traded jed Anderson for gilham, so anything is possible.
Give them spud as well.
