Purchasing Tickets

If you haven't received notification from the HFC, information on sale times, prices and seating arrangements can be found at

Buy, Swap and Sell

If you are seeking tickets or have tickets for sale you are welcome to use this board to get your message across. However:

1. This is the one and only thread to be created for that purpose. Create your own and it will be deleted.

Sellers

Scalping is illegal. If you have tickets to sell, we will only allow you to post for sales of face value or less. And yes, that includes the eternally cute trick of "I have a $700 can of Coke to sell. Included is a ticket to the Prelim" schtick.

Buyers

Buyer Beware. This site, nor the moderators of this board, vouch for the bona fides of anyone offering tickets for sale on this board. We are not agents for them, nor will we act as middle men or dispute settlers. The transaction is between you and the vendor.

Hello,

first post in years and appreciate the discussion of passionate Hawks I read year round.

I have emailed the club regarding our Hawthorn Football Club Memberships but I didn't get a clear response so it makes me think that what I am about to ask is not what they want to elaborate on so I am not disappointed.

**What percentage/numbers of Hawthorn Silver Seating Members were able to get a Grand Final ticket in 2012?

**Are the two tickets in the Hawthorn Silver Seating ballot who want to sit together treated as one entry or are they seen as two? Therefore, if one person gets a ticket then as that person nominated they want to sit with someone else they they are given a ticket as well??

Read on if you want to know my reason for asking...

My partner started following football after meeting me mid last 2012. This saw me pay 3k (AFL package tickets) to see the Grand Final last year for us both to sit together. This year I got Claire the highest membership the club allows a first year member, a Hawthorn Silver Seating Membership. I have a Hawthorn Gold Seating Membership.

**What would you do?

If the Mighties happen to play in the Grand Final I am considering waiving my Hawthorn Gold Grand Final certainty to be with Claire in the Hawthorn Silver Member ballot and if we don't get tickets together I would be faced with a 3k conundrum if the tickets are available.

Thanks for reading,

Daniel

Gold tickets go on sale first though (Sunday) then silver I think on the Tuesday.
If you book both tickets when the silver allocation is released, you should be OK.

If you want to be 100% sure check with the AFL, not the club.

As SHAKESPEARE said, you will both get seats if we get there, assuming you have club support packages which is unclear in your post.

Dear Flukey,

thanks for your reply. I tried to write as clearly as possible so I updated my post to make mention that the memberships are not AFL but Hawthorn memberships and so I didn't think that Shakespeare's response was related to a Hawks Club member.

I will make contact with the AFL, I hope I am not directed to Ticektek.

I just read the "one in all in" aspect of booking as a group so I would think two people sitting together have one chance in the ballot.

Thanks for the reply,

D

The amount of Silver members who get tickets is purely based on how many tier 1 memberships (gold, kennedy club, etc) who don't apply for a GF ticket. The tier 1 memberships have a cap on them because they only allow so many of them so if every tier 1 membership holder applies for a ticket, there isn't more tickets assured than there are tickets. Make sense?

When you apply for a GF ticket, you can do multiple memberships at the one time. This way you'll to sit with who you want. The tip, however, is to apply is small groups because the chance of there being a group of 4-5+ seats free together is slim.

Thanks again Flukey.

Thanks slb. The Club confirmed they have 14000 tickets and I wonder how many of these are tier 1 members??? Therefore, if there are for EG 7000 taken up by tier 1 then there is 7000 for tier 2. I assume there are a lot tier 2 members than 7000.

Thanks for the smaller ticket grouping advice.

**What percentage/numbers of Hawthorn Silver Seating Members were able to get a Grand Final ticket in 2012?
Judging by the fallout on here last year, not too many. But really, I have no idea.

Yes. You are counted as one entry in the ballot. One in all in - one out, all out. As SLB mentioned, try to pick small groups as the later you are in the ballot the groups of seats available are smaller.

**What would you do?
Unfortunately if you want two seats, you (the gold member) will need to enter the silver ballot. Alternatively, your best bet will be to hope that someone has a spare barcode available for you in the lead up to the GF.

Big thanks Harliquin. Nice to have more certain info. :thumbsu:
Don't know anyone who would want to give up a GF ticket as a Gold member, I would think that is one of the big reasons for getting one. Can only hope...

All silver must have got tickets the last 2 times because I know priority 3 members that got standing room. If the OP puts both memberships in priority 2 he will get two tickets but will risk getting standing room.

Thanks Furn2, perhaps if I asked the Club along the lines of ballot tier 3 then I will be more certain. Probably should check in case other factors have changed since 2012 to this year regarding all ticketing. :thumbsu:

if you get 2 standing room, swap them with people who want to stand...but have 2 seats together

I remember hearing some standard (priority 3) members last year got standing room. It would be great if a priority 3 member could confirm they got one or if a Silver (priority 2) member could confirm they missed out. However this year we would have more Silver members so this will add more to the uncertainty. The club will not give out any meaningful figures, they keep it all hush hush to limit any fall out. A few years back I remember they said Gold was limited to 6,000 but since then they have issued more Kennedy and Interstate memberships with priority 1.

The other answer about the ballot is correct. Two people wanting to sit together have to be entered on the same application and it is treated as one entry in the ballot.

Thanks again Flukey.

If there are 14,000 club tickets, then there are 14,000 tier 1 memberships or thereabouts. Not sure if any of those 14,000 will go to club officials? For everyone of those 14,000 tier 1's who don't register/apply for a GF ticket in the allocated time, a tier 2 membership will be drawn for a ticket.

Not true, priority One memberships are capped at around 7000 so there is always some left for other members.

I can tell you from last year some of my family have gold, and selected seat or stand. Revived a seat.
Myself and all other 5 of us have silver and all got standing room.

You will be able register both gold and silver memberships together and select seat or stand. If your lucky there you may get a seat, might depends on the opposition and if it's an all victorian GF or interstate opponent.

Did anyone here, who is a silver member revive a seat last year?

Start saving cash. scalpers are your friend

Until the ticket is canceled by Ticketek and/or the AFL. Like it or not, scalping is illegal and patrons who buy tickets from scalpers run the gauntlet of having the ticket canceled.

seriously, it happens, and it's the only way many get a ticket.

I'm not disputing that it happens, but it is a risk of doing the dough and not getting anything for it.

I was in Oakland a few years ago watching the Athletics host the Minnesota Twins on a Saturday night in the regular season. I got off the BART train at the Coliseum and walked down a narrow walkway that was covered with barbed wire. Along the way into the ground, I must have walked past about a dozen blokes all trying to scalp tickets. Good old' America.
