I like it as far as the early draw goes. How much money you got left?

37k. Am tempted by Chapman, so perhaps someone will get downgraded to Varcoe and I'll bring Chappy in instead. I know it's a risky VERY midprice heavy FWD line as TedDougChris rightly pointed out, but these strike me honestly as some of the most promising players in the early rounds, who'll either hold price blandly and get shunted on soon enough or light a fire and reward the investment. Don't think Varcoe will score much, honestly, and think Cloke will come back massively this year. Unlike a lot of folks I didn't have him last year, so didn't get burned, so don't hold a grudge.

If another strong FWD rookie option arrives, I'll probably downgrade Kennedy and upgrade someone else.

The only problem with an early fixture focused team is having only 4-6 trades to change things up. 2 after round 3 (one price change), 2 after round 4 (2nd price change) 2 after round 5 (3rd price change)

By that 3rd price change alot of movement couldve happened to other players and with the limited trades you might have to keep players for far longer than what you wanted and that might just be against teams like Hawk, Wce, Syd, Freo ect

i think you are spot on there KA, if you are going to go in on more than one maybe two fixture focused players you need to be prepared to hold them for half a season if the sh1t and the fan do so meet.

I'm not going to really consider the early fixtures, start of a season, no one really knows whose good or not, plenty of results that don't go as expected.

I think it's more important to get the initial squad right so later in the year you can use trades to benefit fixtures if your team is upgraded and injury free(ish).

You make a good point, and two Swans in the midfield is pushing it. I think Jack is a keeper, and Hanners solely a fixture-focused player, so perhaps that needs a rethink (Fyfe isn't much more expensive, and could prove a keeper).

I honestly think Cloke could be a keeper in 2013, and have picked him with that in mind.

Still, useful feedback, and worth considering.

I can only see it going one way if you try jump the comp with an early lead and thats downhill. However that aint holding me back o_O im just not like that. However ill work out how many i can pick and wont go overboard.

Some teams certainly have an early favourable draw and this could result in players with a boom in avg early.

Basically how i see my trades
After R1
2 rookie trades (if ive hit the rookies on the head than, i can look to change a premium eg: SJ after missing week one especially if someones role isnt working)
After R2
2 rookie trades (or if ive got enough rookies correct and there are no good other ones to pick than maybe look to trade a premium who isnt playing the role they did in Nab eg: Scotland after missing first 2 games.
After R3 (1st price change)
Now im probably gonna not much extra coin left in me compared to the start of the season it will be about the same. With these trades i could look to swap a midpricer to midpricer, or premium to a premium (These could be Nick Riewoldt types after he plays GC, GWS and Rich in the first 3 weeks and has done his job)
After R4 (2nd price change)
midpricer to midpricer, premium to premium. Maybe you picked someone like JPK to get a jump in the first 4 rounds maybe due to an easy type draw that suits him and hes now done his job, time to get a keeper in who might be a bit cheaper than they started off to be.
After R5 (3rd price change)
Now 3 price changes for a rookie can definitly make them 100k+ more expensive if performing but if they are performing so well than your probably not gonna get rid of them anytime quick. But ppl could always try and trade early here upgrade/downgrade. But for me its another opportunity to trade N.Riewoldt types to Buddy Franklin/SJ players.

R6 onwards
Upgrade/Downgrade

After team is complete
Juggle premiums sidewyas trading them due to injury or what not, so you can hit purple patches.

dream team 1.jpg first year doing dream team and first attempt.

definitely not sold on the ruck/ forwards choices but having salary cap struggles.

possible solutions/improvements?

My interim team:

Backs
Gibbs, Waters, Yarran, Suban, L Brown, Pittard - L Osborne, Goodes
Mids
Ablett, Cotchin, Pendlebury, M Murphy, Fyfe, Lower, J Lonergan, O'Meara - Crouch, N Graham
Rucks
Sandilands, Berger - Daw, Ceglar
Forwards
Franklin, Rockliff, Martin, Higgins, Sylvia, Macaffer - Lee, Bourke

$47,400 in the bank

Something not quite right for me yet, can't put my finger on it yet.

Thoughts? I know, no Swan or Viney
Too much money in mids id rather kill myself than have Mr 30 minutes a game as my 3rd forward

for a first attempt at DT you haven't done too bad at all

solid back line
mids solid - not sold on 5 mid rookies myself
rucks solid
fwds is your iffy line - look for signs pavlich is good to go for round one (interupted pre-season) and
DT isnt generally a key forwards game, maybe look for midfield players that are named in the forward line... there is a reason that rockliff is in most DT sides...

Bye bye Sandi - will people be keeping him on the sidelines, putting Cox in the ruck or look for other alternatives?

Nah, i only brought him into my team on the back of the new rules, but if he can't even get through 1 NAB cup game, then why bother, he will probably be nursed through the H & A season now anyway, to have him fit and firing come finals

thoughts on my team?

Not a bad start, though there are perhaps some better rookie picks like Crouch or Lee. I'm tempted to grab D Swallow as well, might be some better mid-pricers out there but he's got potential to improve in value, or at least will make a good upgrade target later in the season.

BACK: goddard, heppell, hartlett, yarran, pitt, goodes
EMG: docherty, stevenson

MID: gazza, boyd, pendles, mitchell, swallow, moloney, wines, o'meara
EMG: graham, viney

RUCKS: Cox, burger
EMG: daw, mcBean

FOW: rockliff, wright, sylvia, cloke, siposs, winderlich
EMG: macaffer, lee

No buddy as i think he will have a slow start due to the run the hawks have in the first 4 rounds.

I would remove Winderlich, injury prone the last 2 seasons and next to zero preseason this time around. May be a handy upgrade on the bubble after a couple of matches.

Did you put Siposs in their after the weekends matches?

Which Swallow? how much cash you got left ? Why not put rockliff in the mids and zorko up forward? or keep rockliff there and trade out moloney to redden depending if you can afford him. Either would be more reliable than moloney

Too much unknowns in your backline. Again, how much spare cash do you have? hartlett/yarran & pitt, get rid of 1 of them and maybe put Broughton there if cash is ok.

What about Liam anthony? surly with natural progression, he should average 100+ a week

And Sandilands is now out for 8 weeks ;)

To short down back, not enough real premos there. Maybe take a premo out of ur 5 premo forwards and put an extra premo down back.

This is my second year of Dream Team. All criticism and advice is most welcome, Thanx!!
