What's the general consensus on Moloney right now? Is everyone still set on picking him? I've seen Kane Lucas pop up in more and more teams now.

Thoughts please.

Please switch Ryder with Cox. Has absolutely no impact on your score and gives you DPP coverage between Rowe and Cox in case you need someone to cover for in the forwards.

That makes sense.

I've currently got Cox up forward, Ryder R1, Lbergs R2. Blicavs and Currie on bench.

Would it be worth getting Rowe instead of Currie for more DPP flexibility? He may not play but all the other cheap rucks are the same.

Thoughts?

Option to Downgrade Fyfe to Moloney and Upgrade rucks but not sure, would appreciate some feedback

Jenkins is a pretty good pick I reckon. I'd be surprised if he got 100 every week, but he will get 100's and hopefully average around the 80 mark. He's also a nice price that even if he doesn't go that well, a good rookie downgrade will be able to get you to turn him into a gun.

Goldstein on the other hand....I know they're saying he's still ahead of Currie, you have to wonder why he didn't play any NAB games.... .

Did a little editing this arvo and what do you think of my team atm?!? Trying to win all my leagues. Is it worth starting Buddy in my forward line given his $618, 000 price tag and the Hawks' start to the season.

Also not sure about Byrnes.
Last year alot of coaches did same and he averaged 125+ from his first four games.
Leave him out at your peril.

I for the life of me can't sort out my strategy. 4 prem mids + 1 mid pricer, or 4 pre mids and 4 rookies with solid backs and forwards. Doing my head in. Anyway hear is the team i was looking at:

Goddard Gibbs Birchall Duffield Vlastiun Goodes Stevenson Terlich
Ablett Swan Pendlebury Dangerfield Wines Crouch O'Meara Viney Colquhoun (may change) Dwyer (may change)
Roughhead Leuenberger Rowe Bilcavs
Franklin Cox Zorko Rockliff Karnezis Macaffer Neade (may change) Lee (may change)

13k left.

I figured that Wines vs Moloney wouldn't be a huge difference in scores, therefore downgrade and spend the cash elsewhere.

Thoughts on my strategy?

Already rated a few teams earlier but still yet to get analysis of mine.

My main risks are the light on backline and the R2 spot.

I think the backline is the area on the ground where premiums fluctuate the most so there will be good upgrade targets later on.

The R2 spot is a big risk, but in case Currie at R2 backfires, I have Ryder who can be swapped into the rucks at the hands of Rowe without my forward line being affected too much as it is very deep. I just don't think I can gamble on Macaffer on the field because I haven't seen enough from him in the preseason.

I am confident with this structure. I have 19k left over. Thoughts?

Pretty solid side, with a good mix through the mids. Lacking a little down back, but I guess it has to be some where!

Lots of DPP players in this team, including my Rucks and I'm hoping that 2 of my 4 ruckman can make some cash for me to upgrade, but i have back up in Cox and Ryder FWD

Any feedback would be appreciated, at this very early stage.

Defenders
Bryce Gibbs
Jack Watts
Dyson Heppell
Greg Broughton
Brett Goodes
Sam Docherty
Jed Bews
Dean Terlich

Midfielders
Gary Ablett
Scott Pendlebury
Marc Murphy
Dayne Zorko
Matthew Wright
Oliver Wines
Nick Vlastuin
Jaeger O'Meara
Kurt Aylett
Jack Viney

Rucks
Josh Jenkin
Ayce Cordy
Daniel Gorringe
Majak Daw

Forwards
Dean Cox
Patrick Ryder
Cyril Rioli
Tom Hawkin
Jack Riewoldt
Troy Menzel
Brent Staker
Jackson Ferguson

Remove Cordy and put cox there. Then replace cox with Lecras/Varcoe/Kennedy... Your rucks are weak and over the past years I have felt you need to start with a decent ruck duo to save headaches. Every other position a headache is inevitable but where you can prevent it is definitely in the ruck as there are only two players.

Birchall is a concern of mine, Hawks def have gone down with bucket loads of injuries which make me think birch's running role is jeopardised.
Selwood had his peak year last year (SC wise)...
Swallow has been around for a while now so what makes you think he can lift his avg to elite premium?
Dal Santo is a goo POD, A couple slower years than usual but I reckon this could be a year for him to do a bit better and get himself back into the top 10 MIDS.
Jacobs: No for me, Too expensive and he has a couple under him now with more experience so potentially less time in the spotlight?
Walker: Overrated! He aint Buddy or Pav and other then those two SC is known for going small.
Jetta: Hot/Cold, and his hot isn't real good.
Bartel: new role is FWD will suit because he knows how to find the ball and goals are always around the bloke!

Thanks for the response. I like unique, durable players. This won't be my finalised side, but it has some merit.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.

At the time of posting Mitchell hadn't been upgraded yet, and my rookies are probably not set in stone yet...

With all the changes to the game this year, an unorthodox approach could win it much like Impromptu a few years ago.

Basically, I've started with my ideal backs/fds, but they are just spread over the field at the moment (with the benefit of MPPs whilst trading). Over the course of the season, when I upgrade fwds/backs I will shift one of these premiums into that position and will only really have to work on mids.

Expecting something like this by round 9-12
B: Goddard, Gibbs, Hartlett, Heppell, Vlaustin*, Goodes*
R: Cox, Roughead
F: Franklin, Bartel, Rockliff, Hawkins, Lecras, Karnezis
(*Hoping both become keepers, but will likely have to upgrade Goodes, if not both)

Team currently, after some minor changes.

Yep, I know the reasoning behind the strategy, and in a different year, I think it's great. It allows you to be very flexible, having a very strong midfield throughout the season.

However, it can be deceptive: having Heppel and Gibbs in your midfield doesn't actually make your team any stronger than having them in the backline. What you really need to compare is the players that replace them. For example, Stevenson and Docherty are playing instead of Viney and O'Meara, which is not ideal. Furthermore, there are midfield rookies that no longer have a place in your team, replaced by guys like Colquhoun. Similarly, Kerridge and Neade get places over Kane Mitchell and Wines (you might have left him out because of his price - another argument altogether), who seem like much better options. I don't like it.

My question is, if you want the DPPs in their respective lines by round 12, why not just start them there now? It seems like a case of getting too fancy. Innovation for innovation's sake usually doesn't work.

I would only ever suggest your strategy, as someone else mentioned, if there were no good midfield rookies, and an abundance of forward and back rookies. It seems that, particularly this year, there are not many reliable forward rookies, so it seems like the wrong year to try such a strategy.

Anyhoo, don't let me discourage you! If you're set on that, lock it in. I like all of the premiums and mid-rangers you've picked (very similar to a lot of mine), other than Le Cras, who I think will disappoint a lot of people. I just don't like your structure. But all the best, it may well pay off :thumbsu:

Midfield will score you a ton of points, you'd be crossing your fingers on Currie getting the nod over Goldstein but all in all the balance isn't bad.

I think I have got my final time, interested to hear anyone's thoughts?

D: H Shaw, Gibbs, Duffield, Hartlett, Suban, Vlastuin, Stevenson, Colquhoun
M: Cotchin, Goddard, Fyfe, Mundy, Wines, B. Goodes, O'Meara, Varcoe, Viney, K. Mitchell
R: Cox, Leuenberger, Currie, McBean
F: Franklin, Roughead, Pavlich, Rockliff, J. Kennedy, Karnezis, Macaffer, Neade

Ruck/FWD swing is ultra important in a 3 rookie ruck set up,there is no guarantees with them getting time this year. Could you stand to lose Walker or Zorko for a Roughhead/Ryder?
That's a good point, I was thinking of swapping one of Walker/Bartel for Roughead. I would prefer to trade out Bartel but having 2 key position players in the forward line scares me because if they both have bad games they will score poorly.

I like it apart from maybe Suban? What was the reasoning with picking him?

Goddard, Gibbs, Duffield, Heppel, Hartlett Goodes, Vlaustin (Pittard, Terlich)

Gablett, J.Selwood, Murphy, Mundy, Moloney, Crouch, O'Meara, K Mitchell (Viney, Krommer)

Mumford, Jacobs (Currie, Rowe)

Cox, Bartel, Walker, Rockliff, Karnezis, Macaffer (Lee, Dwyer)

$2700 left

All I can really see myself doing is downgrading Moloney to Stevens which gives me around $290k to spread around. I wouldnt know where though lol. Wouldnt mind swapping Mundy to Fyfe and Dwyer to Spangher but I dont have the cash. I can downgrade Murphy to someone like Shuey which frees up $50k. And of course can downgrade Ablett.

Thoughts?

Can you guys please rate, give some feedback suggested changers to be made or that can be made. I'll try do some of my own later on after the days gone.
