Dunno about that. When you're trying to rebuild a team, I'd take picks #9, #10, #11 over pick #2.

If we bring in a number of Cross, Greenwood, Michie, Lyons and Vince we simply won't have room for 3 1st round players.

If we have 3 first round draft picks then we use them and dont pick up any three of Cross, Greenwood, Michie, Lyons and Vince.

Cross was elite, but is past his prime and delisted by his club, Vince has a degenrative knee (and is a knob), Greenwood is a c grader, Lyons and Michie have played 10 games between themselves in 3 years on an AFL list. Lets not get to excited by these names...

So they go and develop in the VFL and take their turns playing in the senior side, after working to earn their place in the AFL.

Not sure if anyone has written this yet, but I believe Lyons father played for the Dees back in the 70's (~30 games).
Obviously it won't come in to calculations at all, but it would be a nice story if it did happen.

Greenwood is not a C grader and Vince and Cross would be much better inclusions than the likes of Brynes, Rodan and Pedersen from last year.

Michie and Lyons are guys who seem to be rated by fans but can't break into 2 good midfields in the competition. If people ask me why our guys can't break into our midfield I reply with they are just utter rubbish, doesn't seem to be the case with these kids.

I'm very nervous we are going to end up with Vince & Greenwood when both aren't top shelf, the other two might be a chance I don't want to pay overs like we did with Pedersen etc. Why can't we draft Aish, Jones. Garlett and any other chance like Freeman. I don't want more on list like Niccholson,Byrnes. Bail, Magner(I know he's on rookie list) & co that are never going to take us into a premiership.

I feel we should back Roos with the talent we have. Jones, Viney, Trengove, Toumpas, Watts, Evans are all possible bolters under Roos and showed promise as a midfield under poor guidance.

If we can add a touch of class and another work horse in the middle we will be a much more balanced side.

Totally agree. There's a lot to work with already. They're young players with huge upside if they don't improve under Roos let's just fire everyone and start from scratch.

I'd be over the moon if we picked up a couple of experienced players- Chapman, Cross, maybe one of those dickheads from Collingwood, anyone who can help us win a few games over the next couple of years while the young'uns learn how to play.

Get our full squad on the field- Clark, Hogan, Dawes, etc.- and we'll surprise a few teams for sure.

Why is michie; an uncontracted player who has played one game and wants to come to us worth pick 38?

Anyone else hear Schwartz say he thinks Shiel will be a demon. I'd take him over Aish for many reasons, but the first being that he's already started well in the AFL environment. Aish is still an unknown at the end of the day. Toumpas went 2 last year, and 99% of people who know of Shiel would take him over Toumpas, with no disrespect to Toumpas of course. It basically just highlights that under 18 form is simply that, i'd be really dissapointed if we don't trade pick 2.

Have a look at the size of him (Shiel). Not height wise, he's only about 180cm (Ablett is only 182cm), but by god he's got a strong build on him. How long would it take Aish or the like to build up to that size (if at all, or anywhere near it)?

Would love to get him, but that's obviously an understatement.
