What do people think of Thomas Shanahan of East Perth? He has been racking up some quality numbers.

Good size, moves well, is good in traffic, bit awkward with his kicking over distance, but he is a candidate for 18's. The standout for East Perth in the colts at the moment.

seen all of easts games so far and like him alot.

had a bit of a down game versus peel, but in the other 2 games has been very solid. has excellent kicking skills, and whilst he isn't blessed with pace, never seems rushed with the ball in tight spaces. also nice overhead.

he's probably easts best prospect at the moment along with ridley and hodgson (excluding jones and chatley)

Ridley can't kick.

agree that's the knock on him, needs some work.

has anyone seen much of blaine johnson from souths?

Yeah he was outstanding last year for Souths, he's a really good size and an imposing figure leading from the square, got a thumping kick. Strong pair of hands on the lead and a good contested mark.

Would like to see him move out of the f50 and see how many more strings he has to his bow, but certainly someone who will be looked at.

Yes Blaine i think is a touch over 6ft. Like you say he has a very strong pair of hands. Both he and Sokol have developed into a formidable duo in Souths colts forward line.

I agree with you once again GW, I would like to see him do a bit more around the ground and use his marking and long kicking a little bit more.

Went to Easts v Subiaco. Subiaco struggled against East Fremantles strong center square rotation. I thought Subiaco had more standout "talent" on show but in the wrong areas of the ground.

Patrick Cripps looks pretty good. 188cm and strong, pretty leggy for a conventional inside midfielder. Strong in the clinches and presents well around the ground so he can find the ball easily. Doesn't provide that much run and spread but when he does he uses it well.

J.Jensen is a similar height to Cripps but no way near as leggy and in space looks a little slow. Both his hands and his disposal by foot look silky, best kicking to Easts forwards came from Jensen.

J.Marsh is a mixed bag. Taller than his brother and just a little bit more awkward because of it. Being played as a KPF but simply isn't one. Looks a lot better when the ball hits the deck, can use his body size and speed to better effect then.

J.Green from Easts was BOG. Racked the ball up on the inside and ran hard on the outside. Not sure if he's on the radar being mature aged. Any massive weaknesses i might have overlooked? hands are good, pace is solid, kicking was solid.

Wood from Subiaco is superb. Watched him last year and he had his moments. Now he's considerably bigger and more dangerous. Incredibly strong overhead, tiny turning circle, a great set shot and can play on a wing or even through the middle. Being mature age you do wonder how it all translates but he was so slight last year that i'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Mcalister i do like. Highly skilled small that breaks games open and finishes. Endurance is a lot better than last year. But he hasn't grown much though.

Greg Clarke. Superb athlete and physically one of the more impressive players on the ground in spite of being just 15. Didn't hit many targets by foot and dropped almost everything that went near him. In saying that he's not using his body size to dominate. He can half break tackles and has super clean hands.

Josh Deluca . Can play inside or out, physically pretty imposing and well built. Nailed a superb goal from the left forward pocket on his left under duress. Which was the play of the day for me.

Yeah Webster did turn it over a bit but I reckon with 23 touches, he filled in well in the midfield for the injured/ill Kennedy, Wilkinson, Champion.

Good news also with Subi beating EF in the 16's with Ethan Burnett, Abraham Kennedy and Bryce Turvey all returning at long last from injury.

Who were the standouts? Didn't see Clem Smith in the team named for Perth... is he injured?

He's in Europe with the AIS academy.

Standouts for me were Jacob Coniglio, played as a half back flank and set up play really well, he's a little ball of energy, has been some concerns about his kicking but he appears to have improved in this department, starting to kick to where he wants the player to be rather than where they are at the time of kicking.

Laurence Grescos played well as a CHB, provided some run and carry, probably let his man off the leash too much but moves really well for a bigger lad.

Herman Humpries is soft. Uses the ball well though.

Warrick Wilson has exquisite skills but needs to find more of it. Chris Firns who is a candidate next year reads the play very well and has a neat left.

For Perth, Merson had his moments, as he should he's had an AFL pre-season under his belt, not sure there's much to his game other than being a bit bigger than the other boys.

Sam Garstone made the most of his chances up foward and provided a really good target when the ball actually made it into Perth's f50, good set of hands, pretty average at ground level and rarely tackled, but enough to work with.

How telling is an interview with an AFL club?

Is it something that most blokes in that South of the River v North of the River game would've gotten?

How's Dom Sheed traveling? If we can't get Boyd I would love to draft him.

Grescos strikes me as this years harry marsh. probably does his best work as a big bodied, clerance mid. but is more often than not played on the half back line.

does anyone know when the second intake will be? it's usually around mid April?

will be interesting to see how many bottom age prospects get picked up, the '95 group seems a little thin without hogan and martin.

Good news there is the under 18 coaches prefer Grescos as a inside mid and preparing to play him there in the championships.

Alec Waterman is really coming along nicely, and looking like a strong father son prospect for WCE.

I don't think Grescos will make the cut.
