Autopsy 2014 AFL Grand Final - Sydney v Hawthorn

Hawks 2008 team is almost unrecognisable with their 2013 and 2014 flags.

Geelong 2007 to 2011, the core team primarily stayed the same.

Cats of that era was one of the best ever.. Hawks now are pretty good too but not as good as that cats team.

Damm, Port will now be even more pissed about missing those shots last week.

Not so sure. Would the Pies have won the 2007 GF if they have got over the line against Geelong in the '07 PF? It just doesn't work that way, therwise you could call the premier after about Rd 8 because X team beat Y, and Y beat Z therefore Z must beat Z.

Fev right on the money here

Embarrassment, hawks had a harder run at training

Too good, too clinical, too ruthless, too willing to work, sydney disgraced by a far superior outfit on the day

Sorry don't think that it is that simple. Given pedigree and results of both teams over the season would seem a psychological explanation has greater merit.

Lets take this up after the 3peat is complete in 2015. In the meantime just sit back and enjoy the glory of back to back flags. Something only 2 other teams have done in the past 25yrs

Simply awesome. Well done Hawks, can't see a team in the comp beating you today.
Thankfully then 2015 is a new season so the other 17 teams have acha

3peat? You've certainly got the talent and the coach but........

I'll say it again:
The biggest gap between Geelong's flags was one year.
Geelong, from 2007-2011, never dropped out of the top 4, never missed finals entirely, and only missed one GF.
There was a four-year gap between Hawthorn's first and second flag. They missed finals in 2009, and they were eliminated in the first week in 2010.

It took Hawthorn 7 years to achieve what took Geelong 5 years. They don't have the winning percentage over that 7 years or the individual accolades that Geelong had over their 5.

They do have back-to-back, which draws the comparison more level. However, in terms of team accomplishment in recent times, taking out anything additional:

From 2007-2011: Geelong played in 5 PFs.
From 2008-2014: Hawthorn played in 5 PFs.
From 2007-2011: Geelong won 3 flags.
From 2008-2014: Hawthorn won 3 flags.
From 2007-2011: Geelong played in four grand finals, including three straight.
From 2008-2014: Hawthorn played in four grand finals, including three straight.

You forgot to mention Geelong were never decimated by injuries as the Hawks were in 2009 and 2010.

No problemo , i just want to know from the guy in Denver who the crowd at his venue supported and if
the Americans generally liked/supported the game .
I am in San Diego and watched the game at the San Diego Lions GF party. There was a few who were interested in the game and were at the pub specifically to watch the game. The majority there randomly could not give a shit.
