Just seen Gold Coast are paying $3.00 to beat the Lions. No doubt Brisbane will probably field a more experienced than the one they did against Hawthorn but Gold Coast are better team IMO. Seems like outstanding value

I thought the same at first but apparently some of the Suns A-Grade players are out (Ablett is one of them)

I remember 2 years ago backing the Suns at Metricon in the pre-season against the Cats VFL reserves team.

They still got pantsed.

At the end of the day, you have to think - its GWS vs Sydney. I think we look too much into ins and outs, but why would we back a wooden spooner against a top 4 team?

Agree in what you said. It might be strange to say this, but I learn more from my losses than I do from my wins. The end result was that my thinking of how this game may pan out was way off the mark.

The damage was minimal, but the lesson learn was invaluable.

Not off to a flyer..... Swans A grade midfield did the damage.... thought they maybe rusty enough for that game to
be interesting....... was wrong..... The long bomb into the Giants forward line certainly aint a tactic that works for them.

Have been burnt once this pre season already. It really is stupid betting on pre season games, should've learnt my lesson from last year.

From what I have taken out of betting on preseason games compared to my thinking a month ago, is that it is good to have a small bank for this comp and to begin to get the feel of betting on AFL games again. There is a profit to be made as you can exploit the weaknesses that the bookies may have in pricing the teams due to the lack of form guides and data. While I have made a profit, it isnt something I am jumping up and down for as my betting units have been considerably smaller

NAB Challenge - Greater Western Sydney vs Sydney Swans
2U - GWS + 22.5 @ $1.95 (Tatts) L
0.5U - GWS/GWS HT/FT @ $6 (Tatts) L
0.25U - GWS/Sydney HT/FT @ $7.50 (Sportingbet) L

Result: 0 - 3 - 0 (-2.75U)

2014 NAB Challenge:
12 – 11 – 0 @ 52% (+11.89U) – ROI 43.4%

Damn, the bubble had to burst sooner or later I guess.
Rode my winning streak and I think I will now be more selective/cut-back on betting on NAB games.

For those wondering, I don't really like anything tonight. Think NM are value are $2.50+ especially at Etihad but will most likely be staying away.

The only thing to learn out of betting on these mickey mouse games is, dont do it. Some people might get lucky but thats about it

I was of the opinion to not do it at the start of the year. However, I have found them to be a good warm up and say a prelude to the H&A fixtures.

I strongly encourage punters to punt on them using a very small bank say even 2U with each bet worth 0.1U

If you do not want to part with your money, then draw a spreadsheet and practice. I highly recommend it.

surely you can't judge whether they are a "good warm up" until your first few weeks of H&A fixtures

there is just as much chance you'll get yourself in bad habits

LOL. Willzzz we learnt a lesson about GWS. Back them at a handicap of 90 points or more.:p:rolleyes:

I think if we were to think about it rationally, punting on GWS is always fraught with danger.

I think GCS is also danger in that they are going to win the odd games interstate this year.;)
