Competitions 2014 Bulldogs Supercoach & Dreamteam Questions

For the Fantasy football addicts out there. Some interesting prospects for this year:

The recruits: Fuller will no doubt attract interest - will he be the Brett Goodes of 2014? Expect to see Bontempelli & Honeychurch running around for Footscray for most of the season.

The trade-ins: Crameri and Darley. A fresh start at a new club can work wonders. Crameri hopes to be a part time midfielder which could boost his points. Darley will probably start on the fringe.

The second year players: Stringer, Macrae, Hrovat and Hunter. History suggests at least one will improve a lot, with another suffering from the 2nd year blues. But who will it be?

The elites: Griffen, Minson, Liberatore. Guaranteed points there. But are they worth the price tag?

I will definitely be selecting Tom Liberatore and probably Matthew Fuller.

As for second year players Jake Stringer and The Rat.

Libba, Griffen and Fuller will be the most popular picks for the Dogs. There's not much to get excited about from an SC perspective for us. I can see a lot starting with Griffen though, and he should pay dividends!

Never done supercoach but will probably have a crack this year. Will be back in for DT as usual, only really Griffen, Libba, Fuller and Darley will be considered. Potential cash cows are in every team from draftees but I don't think ours will have that effect. Can't see Bontompelli and Honeychurch playing most of the year. 5-10 max, with the sub factor.

Is Dahlhaus going to spend more time in the middle this year?

If he could get his average up to 20 possessions he would become very fantasy relevant with a goal or two a game. Big ask though.

He should do. He mentioned he wants to play more midfield, and we he's been good in there in the past. Not sure if it will be enough minutes to definitely slot him in, but I'll be considering him.

Stand by for the Werewolf preview of the Bulldogs in SC (someone else can translate into DT) :)

Edit: Only two DPP's (Hunter and Honeychurch are M/F's) which is disappointing

Players priced at $5396 per point and rookie prices have risen significantly.

SuperCoach Bulldogs Defenders (price, 2013 games, points, average):

(1) Robert Murphy ($534,300, 19, 1882, 99)

(2) Brett Goodes ($492,100, 13, 1186, 91.2)

(3) Michael Talia ($405,100, 9, 676, 75.1)

(4) Tom Young ($364,500, 15, 1014, 67.6)

(5) Jordan Roughead ($360,200, 22, 1469, 66.8)

(6) Jason Johannisen ($348,100, 13, 839, 64.5)

(7) Dale Morris ($342,500, 22, 1397, 63.5)

(8) Liam Picken ($340,100, 20, 1261, 63)

(9) Sam Darley ($282,600, 4, 262, 65.5)

(10) Mark Austin* ($243,500, 7, 316, 45.1)

(11) Christian Howard ($237,300, 1, 55, 55)

(12) Easton Wood ($215,800, 5, 200, 40)

(13) Daniel Pearce ($123,900, N/A)

(14) Matthew Fuller ($117,300, N/A)

Goodes was the great success story of 2013, but won't be nearly as popular with that starting price. Murphy improved on his 2012 average at the age of 31. Talia, Young and Johannisen are fairly expensive while Roughead, Morris and Picken are stoppers. Darley, Austin and Howard are too far down the pecking order.

Fuller could be a great cash cow (possibly Pearce too) but competition for spots in the backline may yet keep him out. Wood may be a decent pickup if he can stay injury free.

SuperCoach Bulldogs Midfielders (price, 2013 games, points, average):

(1) Ryan Griffen ($627,600, 20, 2327, 116.3)

(2) Tom Liberatore ($576,200, 22, 2350, 106.8)

(3) Matthew Boyd ($560,100, 13, 1350, 103.8)

(4) Adam Cooney ($531,400, 19, 1872, 98.5)

(5) Mitchell Wallis ($386,000, 18, 1288, 71.6)

(6) Koby Stevens ($367,100, 19, 1293, 68)

(7) Clay Smith ($365,200, 14, 948, 67.7)

(8) Jackson Macrae ($331,100, 13, 798, 61.4)

(9) Nathan Hrovat ($310,000, 7, 447, 63.8)

(10) Marcus Bontempelli ($202,300, N/A)

(11) Lin Jong* ($157,800, N/A)

(12) Josh Prudden ($123,900, N/A)

(13) Alex Greenwood* ($123,900, N/A)

Griffen and Liberatore are the marquee players who will deliver big points weekly. Boyd and Cooney aren't far behind, but they may have injury issues and are not getting younger.

You can get a premium and a rookie for 2 midpricers, so no real bargains down the list.

Bontempelli is a longer term prospect, so no real cash cows (possibly Prudden but a long shot).

SuperCoach Bulldogs Rucks (price, 2013 games, points, average):

(1) Will Minson ($616,600, 22, 2515, 114.3)

Nice short list here! Minson carried most of the ruck load in 2013, gathering ~90% of the hitouts. He scored consistently well with 17 tons including a high of 154. His low score of 82 points was more than respectable. Campbell (FWD) may share ruck duties at times, but still a fairly safe pick IMO.

SuperCoach Bulldogs Forwards (price, 2013 games, points, average):

(1) Luke Dahlhaus ($425,900, 22, 1737, 78.9)

(2) Jarrad Grant ($419,400, 8, 622, 77.8)

(3) Daniel Giansiracusa ($391,900, 20, 1453, 72.6)

(4) Stewart Crameri ($390,400, 16, 1158, 72.4)

(5) Tory Dickson ($376,300, 13, 907, 69.8)

(6) Tom Campbell ($320,000, 6, 356, 59.3)

(7) Lachlan Hunter ($284,700, 9, 475, 52.8)

(8) Liam Jones ($277,600, 19, 978, 51.5)

(9) Shaun Higgins ($254,600, 3, 177, 59)

(10) Jake Stringer ($251,400, 10, 466, 46.6)

(11) Ayce Cordy ($236,300, 5, 219, 43.8)

(12) Jason Tutt ($229,500, 11, 468, 42.5)

(13) Tom Williams ($189,900, 2, 88, 44)

(14) Jack Redpath* ($123,900, N/A)

(15) Fletcher Roberts ($123,900, N/A)

(16) Mitch Honeychurch ($117,300, N/A)

Crameri is the best bet here, having been promised more midfield time, although his 2013 scoring was erratic. Dahlhaus could also be a solid pick, having a strong end to the season after an indifferent start.

Honeychurch probably won't get early games, but Hunter could be a big improver with more game time. Higgins and Williams repeatedly get injured - pick at your peril!

Talking SC here

Seems to me more expensive rookies means more value in some cheaper/mid priced players this year.

Backs - Reckon I'll pick up Wood at $215K if he's named R1. Can't see Fuller or Darley having the JS (and Darley is expensive $282K)

Mids - Pretty sure I'll go Griff and Libba again. Might even consider Macrae if he's killing it ($330K)

Fwds: Crameri and Dahlhaus in consideration with both to get some mid time each round to make sure they get some extra points. At $250K I'll def bring in Higgins once he's named/played 2 games. Maybe even Stringer at $250K if he looks like playing a lot. And maybe even Hunter at $280K if he's killing it and secures a regular gig.

Why? Wood has never been a good SC player. Doesn't have the job security, is injury prone, doesn't score well. Far better off going for a rookie over Wood.

Libba is the only dog I'll be picking. You can justify having any of Griff, Dahlhaus, Murphy, Fuller, Darley pending NAB cup form, and if you have the balls Higgins.

NAB cup form, and if you have the balls Higgins.

Him and Heath Shaw are never making it back into my fantasy team again
Higgins with his injuries and Shaw with games he gets like 3-5 touches

I remember I once had Higgins get injured, replace with Fyfe, who gets injured the next week, replaced with Marc Murphy who got injured the next week

I did the Higgins to Fyfe move as well :p Although then did Fyfe to Pendles, all's well that ends well :D
