Port confined to be hosting Adelaide in the first game at Adelaide Oval in round 2.

since both Port and the Crows will be away in Round 1, there will be one round later on in the season where there will be two games at Adelaide Oval.

2 games in Adelaide on the same weekend has happened before in finals, 2003, but never in home and away.

Wouldn't the split round change that?
Like they give Adelaide a bye one week and Port a home game and then Adelaide the home game the next week and Port the bye?

The Hawks draw will look something like this...

Round 1: Fremantle vs Hawthorn (PS)
Round 2: Collingwood vs Hawthorn (MCG)
Round 3: Sydney vs Hawthorn (SCG)
Round 4: Richmond vs Hawthorn (MCG)
Round 5: Geelong vs Hawthorn (MCG)
Round 6: Port Adelaide vs Hawthorn (Adelaide Oval)
Round 7: Hawthorn vs Carlton (MCG)

Bring on this year's top 8 teams in the first seven rounds next year.

3 x GWS games. crafty lol

Word is Sydney will have GWS, Melbourne and Hawks as double up games. Melbourne because of the Roos factor.

I reckon we should also play St Kilda twice because we both share the red & white colours. And why not throw in GC (even though they won't be easybeats) because they also play in a predominantly red strip.

Have heard from a friend who works down at Geelong there are whispers that the Cats may be getting 1 possibly 2 Friday night games at Simonds Stadium after the success the ground had in hosting the final this year

Not sure whether this will be the case or not as the same person told me last year that the Cats would have 4 of the first 6 games interstate this season and that didn't turn out to be true

Port Adelaide to host the first Showdown of 2014.

Apparently Steven Trigg pushed hard for it to be a Crows home game, but we all know this is this what really happened:
Trigg: Andy, can we have the first game at Adelaide Oval?
Andy Demetriou: No.
Trigg: Ok, sorry, please forgive me for asking. Would you like our draft picks?

good for football

Not sure what the angst is about GWS playing Swans twice. It builds up the rivalry. West Coast used to bully Fremantle in the early two a year derbies. But it was good for the club.

I get you pencil in two victories to the Swans, but it is good for the overall competition to build that rivalry. The rest of Sydney's draw should be challenging following the new system the AFL is bringing.

I have it on good authority that Vlad will shaft Freo given his hatred for us (yes, that's another reason why he should resign - inability to be neutral).

Watch for Freo to be sent on a nationwide tour.

1 match in Geelong
1 match in Sydney vs Sydney (again)
1 match in Darwin (because Vlad's a ******)
1 match in Launceston
1 match in Brisbane
2 matches in Adelaide
4 matches in Melbourne

I think Freo are guaranteed 5 games in Melbourne based on the Vic Membership that came out, same price to last year so that means we could get 2 at Etihad and 3 at the MCG.

Doesn't rule out a trip to Tassie or Skilled to play a Vic team, which isn't covered by our membership.

True that, imagine if one year Collingwood finished 2nd or so, and Richmond, Carlton and Essendon all finished bottom 6. Like hell the AFL would only give the pies a double up game against one of those teams.

$$$$$$$$

The Adelaide Oval is reserved for football from March 14th, the only reason its later this year is because of construction, so that shouldn't be an issue from next year onwards
That is, except the following year with a World Cup quarter final on March 20.
I'm surprised the SACA are releasing the ground by March 14. South Australia are not going to host a Shield final at Adelaide Oval ever again?
