If Frost was there they might've ensured they had two picks in the PSD and taken Membrey with their second pick since he's already committed to them.

You don't get back to back picks though, we'd have snapped up Membrey had they taken Frost.

I don't really care though, we got him and pick 23 is gone.

They just gave up three of their most experienced players, plus Cross last year, and we should all know what happens when you lose too much experience all at once and expect the kids to take over too soon.

They gave up Cooney (knackered) and Griffen. Higgins walked and no one gives on about Jones.

They'll be fine. Still got Murphy, Boyd, Morris and Minson. Looking through their list, next oldest key player to those guys is Crameri at 26 and a bit. They have a lot of good little players in the 18 to 22 bracket.

Too risky to do this with Trenners. We'd have to delist him, he'd have to nbominate for botf PSD and Rookie draft.

Any cub would be stupid not to take him in the PSD if available.

Re-drafting players as rookies only works for players that nobody would want; Tapscott, Evans, etc.

We can get 'value' with pick 40 but we're much more likely to get a good player at 23. We still could've had Frost. I'm not really sure why we made the trade.

If he wants to get to the Saints, he won't nominate for the main draft, just the PSD. Saints have the #1 pick there, and there's no big fish who've walked from their clubs for St Kilda to use that pick on.

I just don't think they'll bother full stop. As for the risk, I'm not sure what it would be as we have no idea of the RD picks at this stage. As you say though, any risk not worth it.

Just saw the Frost news; feel it was overs, although we might be targeting a couple of 3rd round 'gems' to make up for it. Reasonable trade period for us overall I think; Lumumba and Garlett are both handy players and Frost looks like a decent prospect. Just have to develop 2&3 properly and we'll come out of this off-season pretty well.

St Kilda said they were interested in Frost if Melbourne couldnt do a deal.

I suspect we didn't want to risk it, plus you never know - the Saints may feel slightly more obliged to go tall with pick 1 now.

A downgrade from pick 23 to 40 is cheap if he is going to be a starting 22 player filling a key position role for the forseeable future. It just looks expensive given it seemed as though we were going to get him for peanuts.

Looking on the GWS board, many have him in their best 22 (and notably not all of them have Scully in there)!
