Welcome Teia

Small defender sets up play with rebound from defence. Averaged 19 disposals in 16 appearances for the Geelong Falcons in the TAC Cup. Can also play forward or in the midfield. Impressed in five games for Vic Country in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 15 possessions in five matches. Finished fifth in the agility run at the NAB AFL Draft Combine (8.27 sec).

Encouraged by his highlights reel (not the one in the draft discussion, the one on the AFL site). Good balance, awareness and appears relatively lively.

he was one of my favourites before the draft, i really liked him, but wasn't sure if he was the right fit for our club, reminds me so much of Heath Shaw in that he is very fast running out of defense, but he also has a mid game and in that respect looks a little like Marc Murphy, so obviously versatile and can play different roles well....

Highlights package did not really show why he won a B&F with the Geelong Falcons imo. Hopefully his shut down jobs were first rate….i.e. shutting down good small forwards, probably, does not equate to an exhilarating highlights package.

If he's half the player poppy is we'll be right ;)

This is the pick I think I'm most happy with. Wasn't that much of a reach and we need a small defender, with only Duryea really able to play that role at the moment. Versatility will help too, which may make him more like old Whitex.

In the highlights my immediate reaction was that plays moves much like Marc Murphy. Looks a smart footballer.

I agree, he does move like Marc Murphy.

In one point of the highlights I really liked how he got the centre clearance by foot and then follow it up to receive the hand ball and kick the goal. That play looked classy.

I also liked how composed he looked with the ball, holding on to it on some occassions to get around an opponent instead of panicking with a rushed disposal.

I think this kid will be a very good pick up.

I Liked this bit, sounds like he has good skills. Will fit in perfectly for the Hawks

“They did a study on players who played four or more games in the national championships and he was the No. 1-ranked player in terms of handball and kicking efficiency,” Falcons region manager Michael Turner said.

Thanks for the link, was an interesting read. Mick Turner is not usually one for over statements so comparing him to Gary Ablett (just for awareness and composure) is promising. To win a B&F from ostensibly a back pocket is massive. The last brownlow won by a back pocket would be Wanganeen. Not making the comparison, just saying, it is hard to poll votes from the back pocket. The biggest knock on him seems to be his height, but at 180cm and growing (maybe) he has Hartung and Duryea covered and towers over Poppy! ;-)

This is a very poor draft choice by the club: "Teia", seriously, is that a real name?

Unless this kid changes his name to something real like "Thomas" or "Terry", he cannot get a game for us.

Do it now.

That kid would play for a team called the Mayblooms

Easily the worst contributor on this forum, dribble after dribble from this bloke.

Can't get a game because of his name, what a moron.

Nice to get the B&F winner from the Geelong Falcons football factory.

They have quiet a strike rate of producing great, hard footballers.

Couple of current champs from the Hawks in Hodgey and Lewis. Also produced the likes of Ablett, Dangerfield, J.Brown, Selwood, Boak and Bartel to name a few.

Just a couple of handy players.
