At least the Raiders drafted a QB. Texans have to rely on scrubs or Mallet (who doesn't know the offense).

Funny thing is the Texans are too good to tank for the #1 pick. They'll have to do a trade similar to the RG3 trade to get a QB.
But there is one difference between Mallett and other QBs. O'Brien was offensive coordinator at the pats from 2007 to 2011.

Mallett hey, well that takes care of the QB problems. There wasn't much to draft this season, they obviously didn't get the offer they were after for No 1 pick and had to settle on a possible once in a generation rusher. Cap too tight for a FA QB. Can trade up next year if required with a better class. Made the right call.

If draft day taught me anything, that gap in 6 picks from 7 to 1 can be $7M.
If your cap is tight as is, how can you justify that?

And if they'd moved predraft for Mallett, they would have had to give up a 5th rounder or more.

This way they got him for a conditional 7th rounder.

Yeah I'd give savage a go as brutal as it'll be. Texans season is a write off anyway without a top tier qb.
As I do, I was reading the local press in Houston and they felt savage was still not it and everybody else had not impressed so I am not surprised by the move

(Sorry not sure what you mean. But if I'm understanding correctly.....) Because we drafted a once-in-a-generation pass rusher. They don't grow on trees.
Rather pay him $5m a year than the junk FA QBs this year. Cap hit for Fitzpatrick this year is $3.3m. Otherwise there was Vick, Cassel, McCown etc...

Texans should've drafted first available qb in the 2nd. Carr. Or....trade up into bottom of first and snag Bridgewater. They really stuffed up there.

Carr at the Texans?? Are u mad?

Yeah would have been happy for Teddy to have fallen into our hands. Vikings played their cards right.

Shouldn't matter the carr thing. Two totally different situations and eras and teams.... This time not an expansion team, but a great D and good ol and RB.

OK if any trepidation should've traded up. I am certain Texans would've taken Bridgewater with 33 but they shouldn't have been lazy. Shouldve known raiders and Vikings had bypassed a qb in the first and would be looking to leapfrog Texans who also bypassed. Especially after seeing browns trade for manziel.

Three most important positions these days... Qb de and ot. Clowney and Bridgewater would've pwned

Ah just joking about the Carr connection. Carr looked good on the weekend but wouldn't get excited too soon. Totally agrre with Bridgewater.

Tell you what, 2015 draft will be particularly interesting if Cleveland ends up with pick 1 and Mariota is just as good this year...think they could sell it for huge to Houston/Tennessee/St Louis/Tampa

If Cleveland gets the #1 pick in 2015, it would be madness to pass on Hundley or Mariota in favour of Manziel.

They should just draft the best QB with #1 overall. They'll surely end up with the #1 overall.
If they trade down, collect picks, and try to take some other QB in the 2nd, they may rue it once again.
