Taylor, what a little gem we have, reminds me more and more of Boomer Harvey when he was young.

Agree here. Of all the players we missed out on (excluding Boyd - as we couldn't have actually taken him), Taylor is the one I'd like to have been able to grab. He's an exciting, aggressive little player who will get better and better...

He's is one of those sort of players that just wants the ball in his hands and wants to set up play. Still lacks strength and enduraance but considering he had an interrupted pre-season with stress fractures to the foot and still played every game, that is pretty damn good.

Btw, I have heard form some posters that Bonts may not have the best disposal. I was just wondering if you or any poster who has seen a lot of him, could give me some info on how his disposal is.
Depending on what the panel judge him by, this may or may not impact on the RS award.

just on taylor I think there was a knock (draft time) he may not be able to play midfield, but that's silly as there are plenty of just forward pocket players killing it atm ie freo

His disposal is fine I wouldnt believe what posters on here say there is one clown running around posting Billings cant kick.

Well thats strange, since he was captain of Vic Country (l think) and he was playing as a midfielder absolutly racking the possessions up.

I'll be honest and say I haven't really noticed a trend either way yet. I've seen him miss targets but he's also been very good for someone his size in heavy traffic and slotted goals at important times - so he's not necessarilly a good or bad kick at this stage. At this stage I don't think DE will come into the evaluation for the RS, but that's just personnel opinion.

I think the only person's whose questioned his disposal is Bruce MacAvaney (knos jackshit) watch his goal on the run against Geelong you'll see he can kick, not a good set shot, but field kicking is good.

Taylor reminds me of a mix between Mitchell and Harvey. 2013 could be a bumper draft for us. We appear to have nailed it.

Agreed. Turned the worst possible outcome into a better than hoped position.

I stopped caring about this award when Rhys Palmer edged Cyril Rioli in 2008 purely because he played as a midfielder and got more of the ball compared to Cyril at half forward. Rioli had as good a first year as anyone I can remember. Equally as good as Selwood and Pendlebury the year before. He played every game in a premiership year and finished in the Top 6 of the club best and fairest.

In a matter of months, he became one of Hawthorn's key players. I still remember 27yo AA CHB Nathan Bock trying to run though him and 18yo Cyril locking him up in a "ball and all" tackle and taking him to ground for an amazing HtB decision.

Anyone with half a brain could see the difference in quality between Palmer and Rioli. Sadly, the people voting on the award were the same clowns who picked the All Australian team and left out Sam Mitchell. They must have been dead-set idiots not to have noticed how Rhys Palmer wasted every one of his possession with poor decisions and sloppy disposal.

It's a joke of an award because the judges don't watch the nominees close enough over the year. It's all based on guesswork, stats and personal prejudice. They should either get the AFL coaches to vote on it, or just leave it as a weekly nomination type of an award.

I think you're selling Palmer short. He was a immense in his first season and was a deserving winner of the award.

Agree 100% though regarding All Australian

He hasn't played as many games, but he has played just as many good games. The difference is while the others start to tire and have reduced output, Bontempelli hasn't yet. Either way it is a minimal difference because he debuted four games after the others.

Then was immediately dropped, then recalled as sub in round 7 where he gathered 2 possessions and was dropped for round 8.

Then it's even more impressive he's still favourite

He wasn't immediately dropped, from memory he was selected to play but was a late out from general soreness, which you can understand having just made his debut and played a full game.

Dunstan or Aish. Whoever finishes the year better, both tearing it up. What's with South Australia lately?! Dominating Under 18 championships and producing some guns these last few years especially.
