Haven't heard much about the game being abandoned at Macleod on Saturday. NFL would need to sort this one out quickly.

After the incident there was a lot of pushing and shoving from the players but not much else. Macleod boys were obviously highly charged and as players from both teams were yellow carded both teams moved towards the North bench and that's where some of crowd became involved. As a stretcher had been called for and with only a few mins to go the umps decided to call it off before it got out of hand as it wasn't dying down. No punches or anything but not a good look for the game. Video footage will be obviously be closely looked at but apart from the original report I don't think there will be any more to come from the melee.

Any game being abandoned is a serious matter whatever the circumstances, first quarter, 2 mins to go, doesn't matter. Just hope we don't have relatives investigating relatives.

It was more of identifying the future issues that North will experience heading into the future. I'm not sure how you fix that given your geographical location in West Heidelberg. Are there any junior clubs near by that you could align yourselves with ? I've seen many cricket clubs within that area fold due to lack on numbers and would hate to see the same thing happen to your footy club.

Is Nth Heidelburg aligned with Preston RSL juniors? Bit of works going on down there at Albert St. Think that's where Harvey came from, but I stand to be corrected.

They certainly were back in they day, also with Heidelberg West Boys Club. Harvey boys and Peter Daicos came from RSL but the likes of Powell, Gray, Maiorana, King x 2 and maybe even Big Saul came from HWBC. Maiorana maybe not. Both clubs are now defunct. Preston RSL became the Preston Bullants who play in the Yarra League.
North 19's are what would have been Thomastown's under 19's I believe.

I know Boomer touts that his junior football club was North, I very much doubt he has ever played a game their. (Happy to be corrected).
Played juniors at RSL, then straight to the Knights, then drafted. Just did a quick Wiki search...Bloody hell that is some trophy/medal cabinet he has amassed.

I pretty sure Saul came from Eltham

I think the cut lunch thrown by the Macleod player as the players were remonstrating after the incident when he came rushing & leaping over the pack may get a look in. Those from the crowd who made the scene ugly know who they are & have form from a previous life. No pun intended.

The reason the players moved towards the bench was due to some spectators making a bee line for the sent off player to voice their displeasure. Believe the NFL are investigating both incidents.

I'm not a North person, not at all. Just don't rate downing the ones having a crack.
If I was in the inner sanctum at NHFC, I'd be having a go at aligning with The Preston Bullants JFC. They are what was once Norths feeder club in Preston RSL, and they have in 2015 fielded 9 times, including two colts sides.

The Northern Blues use Preston RSL's ground and play in the Ammos on Saturdays not sure about Sundays.

Not sure, but Preston bullants have u/19s in the Ammo's, while their other 9 sides Preston juniors in are in the YJFL and are not related to Preston RSL, I'm not 100% sure but Preston RSL folded around the 2008 - 09 season.

The 19s play under Northern Blues and their seniors have won the last 2 grand finals and are in Div 2 ammos

Tribunal took into account the actions taken by the crowd. Interesting that the pu ches thrown by mcloed players weren't charged nor the activity of the mvloed crowd causing the game to be ended early. North will appeal
And absolutely North have reason to appeal, perhaps may be not the sentence to the player penalised but there was definitely a round arm by a Macleod player on top of the melee. The Macleod crowd however are related in some form to the league hierarchy so say no more.

Will be interesting to see if ANYTHING happens as they are related in some way.. But it is what it is though..Cant do much about it though...

Love a good Conspiracy theory. "Tribunal took into account the actions taken by the crowd" and the "Macleod crowd however are related in some form to the league hierarchy...." Surely you are taking the piss with these comments

Sounds like a bit deflecting going on here. If what happened occurred as explained to me, then Nth player deserves all he got in regards to the penalty and perhaps more. I wouldn't condone player/crowd reaction that follows, but in the circumstances perhaps understandable and somewhat unavoidable. If I was from Nth Heidelberg, I think I'd be forgetting deflection from the root cause and perhaps put in an apology to the injured player and support the league in trying to make sure coward acts don't occur on the football field, let alone the streets.

what is the extent of the injury to the player??

Sorry wasn't trying to deflect. Did the act got the weeks. I should have posted that the tribunal must have taken into account the crowd involvement with the sentence. I'm not sure if he has spoken to him but i know he was finding his number to get in contact with him.

Though I will say crowd interactions is a huge no no. While the result was already done, no one but the active players should enter the field of play during the match. The game would have finished if it wasn't for that. Unavoidable maybe. Understandable? Absolutely not. What was it going to solve? Nothing.

I agree Brutal, but some sort of communique from the NFL re the matter would be good.

Supporters trying to get on the ground to attack players is understandable & somewhat unavoidable, please Brutal do us a favour & stick to reporting on your own club. Sauce has spoken with the fella, im lead to believe the kid is OK. 8 weeks IMO is a bit harsh but Martins parents more than likely don't think that so we move on. Regardless of your club, players have been hit on footy fields for 100 years, teammates, tribunals & sometimes police sort that out. When the crowd get involved things can really turn to shit in a hurry. Umpires where correct to call it off, how that has become Norths fault is staggering.

Mate totally agree, from what I have heard Macleod Supporters ran to the coached box ....Anyone confirm....We don't want any of that stuff go on and put a black mark against the league. Knowing Sauce Im sure he'd be regretting what has happened and would sincerely hope that the kid is ok...

Some may say I was commenting on my own club, considering I watch about 6 or Macleod games a year and was at last Saturday's game but left a couple of minutes before the fireworks. Understandable reaction in the context of supporters misguided passion after said incident. Unavoidable in regards to no security or crowd control to stop anyone willing to take matters further. Should there be a sanction? Yes and there probably will be. As I said, I wouldn't and don't condone it. If Nth think the penalty is too harsh, then it probably highlights how out of touch they are with reality of such incidents these days. I have heard the injured player will miss a couple. To be fair, in watching the game as a whole I was impressed with the way Nth played and up until leaving, I didn't think any of their preceding play showed any malice. Others may disagree.
