Decent talls on the list and average midfield, draft a bunch of midfielders. Not many talls on the list and a bunch of midfielders, some of which can't get a game and are stuck at Peel, draft midfielders.

In all honesty, they need to take the punt on some talls again, like we have with Pearce, Tabs, Apeness. I'm sure the club are across it.
We did take Apeness then A.Pearce then Grey in 2013. So I don't think Freo is anti drafting talls. I think we probably need to get better at trading though.

Can someone explain to me why a key position back is the lock for pick 1?

Just wondering why Schache isnt going number 1, Carlton aren't exactly blessed with tall forwards and I don't remember a KPB ever being drafted with pick 1.

It's just i'd take a gun forward over a gun back any day of the week. Someone even compared it to being like Rance versus Franklin to which I'd take Franklin any day of the week.

It's something I've tried to wrap my head around too. Looking at Carlton's list you'd say Schache meets there needs more however Weitering although his best position is CHB is a more than capable CHF as well. The key trait to his game is how well he reads the play and this is not just a trait that is important to his defensive game but also as a forward.

I don't see it as clearly that Weitering is a stand out number one as others might. He's the more likely option but Schache can't be discounted

Tonight there will be threads all over this place about which team "won the draft" without any shred of evidence to back up all the claims and the general consensus being that the team with the most first round picks probably won.

That's why Melbourne wins the draft most years... until they get them down to training and undevelop them.

Young bloke from South Freo by the name of Darren Gaspar comes to mind.

:eek::eek::eek: Yes they are dammit, didn't you get the memo?

I love draft day, love the drama, love the excitement, there is always a couple of 'surprises' that sends everybody into a meltdown. Love the trade period as well, someone else's trash becomes another's treasure. These are the best times of the year on BF, it's hilarious.

And yes, while I believe best available has served us well and I always thought that it would help us with trading for a KP, clearly it hasn't, no one wants to leave. Time to change tactic.
I agree. Sometime i like it more than the actual season. Especially if we are losing

I'd like to say I'm going to forget about this and just read up on the new recruits tomorrow instead of suffering through the hours of drawn out AFL HQ rubbish, but, I'd only be lying to myself...

I'll crack and keep checking in. I know it, they know it...

In case you guys are interested, this is on online atm (been on for at least a couple of hours I think): http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-11-24/the-draft-show-live

The time the actual draft starts seems to not be certain. Saw somewhere it was 3pm WST. But the Fox Sports coverage only seems to start at 3:30pm.

Fox are listing a draft camp show screening before the draft so it is probably segments of the combine starting 2.00 pm Cockburn std time.

Edit : just switched to fox. And it is a show with Brent SAnderson and Michael Ablett highlighting elite draft prospects. So as usual commercial interests are flogging this to death which is unusual for the AFL.

TBH , they have totally rooted the draft format these past few years.

Late edit: watching it right now and it is kids going through the drills at Etihad. They have an expert panel of Sanderson, Ablett and Brad Johnson hosted by Huddo.
Is absolute meh.
