Quite a few phantoms have us taking David Cunningham including now Emma Quayle who has us getting a small like Gresham or Cunningham or going early on Ben McKay.

If we have a list of 4-5 KPPs we'd comfortably draft at our second pick but not our first there's no point in reaching IMO. Our first two picks will only be roughly 10-12 picks apart. Hoping for a half back with elite skills if we can't get a tall with our first. We don't really have a mid sized defender with elite skills anymore unless we want to play Hill there, which may happen anyway but it's not ideal.
I'm not sure there will be a good half back left at our 2nd - Morgan perhaps? So I can see why Twomey picked Cole for us - he would fit nicely at half back. Don't see much chance of Collins, Bonner or Tucker lasting to our first. Here are my preferences at each of our picks (assumes a 39-5 profile) - it's a little tall but I think we have to go that way:

1st - Burton (in unlikely event still available), Himmelberg (bid regardless), Cole
2nd - Glass-McCasker, Brown, Allen
3rd - Skinner, Moore, Smith
4th - Adams, Keough, Buykx-Smith
Rookies - Morabito, Deluca, Powell, ?

After watching the footage out there for most of the likely options, I am quite underwhelmed. I'd honestly be happy to just pick 3-4 of the best state league talls (e.g. Adams/Brown/Keough/Hartley) and hope 1 or 2 can perform adequately at AFL level. Not going to happen though. I'll be surprised if we even get one of them. I'm just hoping that we take people who can kick properly ... which seems to be a big problem with this draft crop.

We will not draft Tom Cole. He is too vanilla for us. We like more high risk high reward pkayers.
I'm not sold on Cole either. I'd much rather we take best available tall with our first pick, because it's an area we're seriously lacking, and you don't wanna risk having none available at our 2nd. We already can't fit all our midfielders in the side.

I hope we go tall for every pick in the main draft and rookie mora aside. We can wait another year to draft half backs, but we need to put time into tall defenders before johnson and dawson retire. If we got two good talls and the rest were busts I would still call that successful because we need them.

If we were to target talls and nearly-talls with all four picks, our recruiting board would probably look something like this (although subjectivity is such that the permutations could be entirely different):

Pick 1 (22-ish): Collins, Burton, Himmelberg, Bonner, Hibberd, B McKay
Pick 2 (35): Adams, Brown, Glass-McCasker, Allen, Markov
Pick 3/4 (60/68): Parsons, Skinner, Surman, Keough, Buykx-Smith, Chol, F Pearce (!), Nyuon, Tiziani, Moore
