It's slightly possible, but very doubtful we would have a sub par year though. Wines told one of our very reliable supporters at the b and f that he is staying. He hasn't said 'he's not sure.' The terms are being worked out.
You will go further backwards when Ryder and Monfries get rubbed out for the year. That's a million $ of your salary cap down the toilet.

Very doubtful? After your 2015? I think you'll make the 8, but beyond that I'm not sure, too open ended at this stage.

He may sign this time around (probably for 2 or 3 years), and as I said I think that's more likely than not. However, he will need to see success in that time to stay long term. At least Boak had the chance to play in a GF early on to keep the lure of success a possibility.

Surely you've learnt by now that players are becoming a lot more fluid in their movement, especially if they aren't seeing success at their current club.

Do you have some inside info that nobody else does or is it just wishful thinking perhaps? Good we kept Lobbe and brought in a few who could replace Monfries if needed, but good try.
Lobbe showed how hopeless he is in 2015 and your depth is Kane Mitchel/Paul Stewart. Good luck with that.

Impressed you have so much insight into our players. So much more than we obviously do, but then you have been through it a few times with some disappointing outcomes so I will respectfully accept your superior 'intuition' on this I guess. Tongue in cheek, of course. Anyway I guess all clubs hope to keep their guns but it doesn't always happen as we saw with the high number of trades this off season.

You obviously don't know our list then if you think that is our depth. Lobbe will be back to his best this year and if required will do the sole rucking duties as he did in 13 and 14 which were quite successful years.

I don't have any insight into your players, but as you said, high profile trades and FA movements are becoming more regular. It will hit Port at some stage, like it will hit the Crows again at some point, like it will hit every club. It sucks, but it's reality now.

Wines is exactly the type of player that a Victorian club will put a godfather offer to. Whether he accepts or not is another story, but the offers will come and I don't doubt he will at least consider them. Hey, he may stay and Port win the next 5 flags, but even success doesn't seem to appeal to all players if they get an overs deal from another club.

Wingard will get offers too, but I've never had any doubt he'll stay at Port, seems fairly loyal to me.

I don't think Port have the greatest depth in the comp, but it's certainly not the worst and I can't see that being a factor in your ladder position at all.

I think Wines is the only one at risk of leaving, I have just never felt he is totally committed to living in SA and would move back to Melbourne if the right offer came along. Another poor year by Port would also throw a spanner in the works. Can't see him being one of the re-signings, probably Ebert and Wingard. Look, I think he's more likely to stay than not, but there is a risk.

Now, which Port poster is on duty to report this back to the Port board?
Me! Nah, but just want to respond to the bit in bold ... Actually, he doesnt come from Melbourne! Not unless Echuca has become a suburb recently. He hasnt lived there, and besides the Vardy's has no connection with, or pull to go back there. He will re-sign. Its just a matter of when, and the $ value.

I thought Boak signed long term when success looked a distant unlikelihood. In fact, I'm sure there are many posts stating he only signed because he was getting way overs due to Port being so crap and having a shit list.

"shit list" - I'm amazed Port can keep all that talent under the salary cap.

A lot of people say this but when you compare Port's list player by player to most clubs, it's not really all that different.

I think over the last 5-6 years, Port along with Brisbane and GC have had the most player raid attempts by other clubs. If no one can poach Wines now especially under the 'salary cap squeeze', I don't think clubs will bother with targeting players from Port's list for a long time.
