Due to the loss of Cooney and Griffen and Higgins I don't think Moyd will have to worry too much about getting a game even though he has supposedly had an average pre-season. Put him in the midfield for a regular season game and you know he will run it out and probably get more of the ball than Jong, Hrovat, and Honeychurch, or any of the rookies at this stage of their careers.

Not saying he will use it well though.
The end (sadly) comes quickly for some.
Johnno came 4th in our B&F in his second last year - his last year was a few injury affected games and a complete write off.

I really was glad we kept Moyd for one more year when Griff & Cooney departed. Now I'm worried he'll spend most of the year at VFL level if pre-season reports are anything to go by.

As for grant or Dickson. Grant is dynamite on the fast break. But I seriously seriously doubt he can play off a wing, and I think it's unlikely we generate quality fast break opportunities this year. Dickson is just a sniper down there, and id play him ahead of grant at this stage.
Given their lack of versatility, I'd guessing there's only room for one of them in the side. They're both playing for their careers this NAB cup.

Might be a bit of an unpopular opinion but I'd have Stevens over Wallis in the starting side. Stevens is stronger, more aggressive, got geniune marking ability and I believe he also has a better kick and slightly quicker. Also can play as a forward so I prefer him in the side than Wally at this stage.

Updated side

FB: Moz, Roughy, Wood
HB: Murph, Roberts, Biggs
C: Macrae, Bonts, JJ
HF: Hunter, Redpath, Dahlhaus
FF: Stringer, T.Boyd, Hrovat
R: Minson, Libba, M.Boyd
Int: Stevens, Picken, Jong,
Sub: J.Grant

Think we should be giving Grant an extended chance to crack again. Unlike C.Howard this bloke actually has shown good signs at AFL and we still need some experienced players + speed. Hes got 7 years in the system and he's the perfect type to go full throttle for half a game and kick some goals/break lines on the wing.

He's got the first 4 - 6 rounds to show something irrespective of whether Crameri is rubbed out or not. He's your chance J.Grant.
glad to see someone else picking Roberts...not sure why so few are selecting him....from what i have seen I think this kid can be a long term player....and he must get game time...remember all top sides have a settled back 6

Most would agree but he has had a very limited pre season from all reports.

Think we should start with this Friday then re -assess

Agreed Fargy. I'm a big Fletch fan. but given his post season op., and limited preseason, I expect Red @ CHF, and Micca T @ CHB will get first crack at seniors, and Fletch might have to round out his off season fitness playing for Footscray. But gee, neither of these blokes would want to put in a poor effort with FR waiting in the wings.
I still think Fletch is a better prospect up forward, while competent in defense, he just looks at home up front. A natural.

I just think hes the better one on one defender than Talia not to mention he has great skills, if he can get all 3 pre season games under his belt then he's a lock for mine in the round 1 side.

Not even sure he'll get a pre-season game in? Is he on a full training load yet?

I'm so excited for footy to be back. This young Dogs team has so many guys i'm keen to watch and see improve every week. Even besides the obvious Bonts / Stringer types, guys like Hunter, Hrovat, Jong etc who will apparently get to play a more exciting and attacking type game and have the freedom to show a bit more flair is really exciting. I'm jealous you guys gets to go to WO to watch, but i'll be ready watching on Fox and i'll be at Etihad for Round 1, BRING IT ON!

Welcome to big footy, Pretty good side that, I like it, you have Jong in twice, his pre season form has been outstanding, who would you have in the second position you have selected him in.
I am interested to know.

Yeah, apologies for that. A rookie error. I would have picken in the side for his experiencw

Shame to see Mckenzie go down, I hate to see any player from any club go down with a knee.
I know what Clay Smith has gone through, tough injury.
We both had our thoughts on Maple last year BP, have your thoughts changed at all?

No mate not at all, I went every week, he coached by name only, right bloke has the job, Hansen really coached them last year.
I think he is not coaching for a very good reason, a Macca clone or prodigy, Iam so pleased that Macca has gone.
Maple now right out of things at training.
They had a fair crack at me all year on FB, but that's life, very pleased for Footscray VFL that Hansen has replaced Maple, first Senior coach to be replaced since coaching a premiership since another half wit Alan Joyce coached Hawthorn to a premiership filling in for Alan Jeans.
I think it is fair to say mate, the proof is in the eating.
