From memory Melksham wasn't even getting a game later in the year anyhow. Colyer may have overtaken him.
I think for the sake of SC, we are all hoping Laverde plays
Melksham was in and out towards the end of the season. James Hird is a bigger fan of him than Bomber was.

Yeah that's what I thought. Hird also likes guys like Kommer, Howlett more so than Bomber if I am not mistaken.
If I were an Essendon fan, if you could prevent me from jumping off a building, I would prefer to see guys like Laverde play ahead of Melksham, Howlett, Colyer, Kommer, even Hocking. And Stanton would be on a short leash. Not going to win if you keep playing the same guys...just not talented enough

Kommer was injured all year, he wasn't actually available for selection for a single game.

I agree on Melksham, Howlett and Kommer, but not Colyer and Hocking. Colyer really broke out towards the backend of last season, gave us some speed through midfield that we were lacking. Hocking is still one of the best taggers in the game whilst being able to impact in a attacking sense as well. Stanton has been a great servant for the club but he lost his pace last year very quickly. Should be his last season.

Laverde is a huge talent and has been killing it in training, I'd expect a similar amount of games to what Zach Merrett got last year.

Colyer is ahead of Melky, Howlett, Kommer and Laverde. He came of age in the second half of last season and will be a very important player this year. (But not a SC option.)

Hocking may miss the start of the season, has had groin surgery twice over summer.

Yeah I agree with you. To be honest I thought he has been quite harshly dealt with throughout his time at Essendon. Seems to play quite well whenever I see him play, and then gets dropped soon after.
I still think they need an influx of talent. The Merrets added a bit of polish, but more is needed and the likes of Laverde might be able to do just that.

Colyer's skills are still shocking. I don't think he was treated unfairly, as he'd usually play a good game before then spudding it up the next.

Would anyone consider Rance a good option?

Solid performer but hasn't really moved from a high 80's average over the last few years. Hard to see that change too much, the more SC friendly roles seem to get rotated through a few players at Richmond.

Brent Reilly has been taken to hospital with a fractured skull during an Adelaide training session. This could open the door for someone like Henderson to properly make his case during the rest of pre-season and NAB Cup.

I think the reaction of this board will be similar to mine, but a mate who is a stats man and always does well at SC has earmarked Gary Rohan this year depending on NAB Cup. The inside word, according to him, is that Rohan will take over from Malceski as Sydney's running half-back.

Take all that info with a grain of salt, not someone I'd normally even consider, but worth keeping an eye on his role in the NAB Cup.
It's not that much of an inside word considering its been in the media.

cheers guys.
i've never really followed bob murphy sc wise...
but, with the limited defenders this year. i thought to try a left field selection and hoped that the captaincy may get him a few extra points e.g. younger players feed to capt

One to watch in the NAB. His performances in there will likely determine whether he plays round 1. A potential rising star winner IMO.

If Laverde is so good why did he slide so far in the draft?

How could full time professional recruiters be so wrong that approx 15 clubs pass on him before EFC?

NB: not trying to be a smart arse - I just want to know why?
