Assuming we don't delist anyone else, it's interesting to see what we do with this last list spot now (assuming we're budgeting for pick 2, Keays and Hipwood in the draft). Could be used to pick up a more mature player like Whitecross, or one of the academy players like Chol or William.

Would move Paine on so we can take 2 out of Whitecross/Chol/William.

A great big heartfelt John Ironmonger-sized thankyou to ZoBlitz and JasRulz63 for their work in keeping the Trade News Compendium thread up to date over the past few weeks.

For all of that time that thread has been my first port of call for all Brisbane Lions trade-related news. I hope you guys appreciate what a valuable resource it is for all of us in a media landscape where we still battle for attention, and where important bits of information about the Lions are as likely to be found buried below 600 words about Chris Yarran as anywhere else.

It's been a fascinating trade period and you guys have made it much easier to follow and to enjoy than it would have been otherwise. Well done.

There's a trade news compendium?

Well no. If somebody bids say pick 7 and we match then we go to pick 7 and that teams pick goes to pick 8. But yes they could then pick the other. Would be a dog act though.

Good point. Then you could delete the diagonal line on your chart, they can't both be picked with the same pick. Yes, I'm a pedant.

Must admit, I'm lost on that one too; irrespective of the points system.

Its as if we're giving opposition teams a free kick for no reason which directly benefits the Lions.

Pick 28 wasn't actually worth pick 28 to us, because the academy bid system says you have to match bids with your next pick.

So assume Hipwood and Keays get bid on at 10 & 12. As it is, we burn picks 38 to 42 to match those bids.

If we had pick 28, we'd have to burn that and picks 38 to 40. We're left holding picks 41 and 42 which we probably wouldn't use.

So we just got the best deal for pick 28 we could. If it had been earlier in the week we might have gotten Astbury or a future 2nd rounder for it, but given the timing we got what we could.

Overall pretty good period.... extremely disappointed that we didnt get a key defender. With Ashbury and Talia going cheap... let our period down.

Hopefully we bring Mitch Brown via the draft.

WE should all be celebrating the fact for TWO years in a row we have had the come home one
(potentially two this year if we get Whitecross)

Just for you, here's a list of things I don't care about as much as "making a diagonal black line through the matching picks on my chart".

And Hugh Jackman

Hope you all survived another pretty hectic trade period.

With regards to our picks, it's worth noting that the new bidding system makes for a more 'fluid' draft, meaning our existing selections could yet move up the order.

For instance, if Callum Mills is bid early (let's say hypothetically at Pick 3), then the Swans' current Pick 33 will move up to Pick 3, and their Picks 36 & 37 will go to the back of the Draft. This would see our Picks 38. 39, 40, 41 and 42 all move up two spaces - effectively netting us an extra 178 points.

Surely we get whitecross as a DFA or is he still contracted.

If they offer him a contract he can't be taken as a DFA I believe and we will have to draft him. If he wants to come to us.

Phew! It's quite convoluted, isn't it? I believe our recruiting team are doing those type of permutations as we speak.

That seems pretty accurate without me doing the actual sums. It will make for a VERY interesting Draft Night, that's for sure.

Our recruiters (and fans alike) will no doubt be hoping the Sydney and GWS boys have their Academy players bid on first. If Hipwood/Keays get bid on first, then I suspect we'll be going into deficit.

Victorian-based fans can get along to our special Draft Night on Tuesday 24 November (http://s.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL Tenant/BrisbaneLions/Links/PDF/Draft Night Flyer & Booking.pdf) to ride the emotional wave that is the AFL National Draft along with Club recruiters and fellow supporters.
