You're spot on regarding Mitch Brown the Essendon VFL player. He is young, big and athletic and gets he footy, he would be a much safer option than the Eagles one purely on a health front.

Redden would be a nice pick up, it would'nt cost a ton to get him and he'd compliment our list nicely.

We don't need the big fishes lads, simply some like for like soldiers who can contribute.

If Suckling does go to Brisbane, they'd be stupid to pick him up as a free agent as it would almost certainly cost them a first round compensation pick for Leuenberger. Unless something changes in round 23, that pick will be pick 2, which is worth far more than Suckling is.

Could offer the Lions our Suckling compensation pick in return for Redden. Not sure how appealing that would be - might need to throw in a player as well. The Lions have a track record the past few years of being pretty feeble when it comes to trading though.

It appears we have a shallow draft this year. Some clubs can go over their caps by 5%. (Extra 500k). Clubs can now trade future draft picks.

Seems to me it's conditions for a 'Perfect Storm' and clubs are going to pay way overs for free agents. (Look at the numbers being thrown about for some FAs in this thread). I hope we don't trade out future picks or pay overs. I'd rather us do some good old fashioned horse trading like we've done previously.

We've got a heap of fringe talent and I've got a feeling we'll move a few on, especially to make room for incoming. If we do manage to snag a couple of 'best 22ers' then it seems pointless to hold onto so many high potential fringe players. Time to trade some of our surplus I reckon.

McBean is an intersting one, is he gettable? Would he be able to step into Hales role?

No talk of Scott Lycett? Seems he's 3rd in the pecking order at the Eagles and would be a ready made replacement for Hale. He's a better ruckman than BB as well, these types who can step in and play a role is what we need.

Benell + Lycett would address multiple needs
