Also, we didn't confirm interest in Frawley until after the grand final. Possibly the higher ups at the club don't want to talk specifics about recruitment until after the season is over. Makes sense.
Hawthorn was said to have 'cooled' on Frawley too.

Then we find out that he was pretty much a done deal from March.

Yes, someone else is with me... Scotty Lycett COME ON DOWN! Would be a brilliant get, steps straight into the Ruck/Forward role with Cegs developing into our big main ruckman.
I'm sure West Coast would be completely open to trading one of their senior ruckman to a top 4 rival.

May as well propose trading for Fyfe.

I also think that Jack Hannath would be something to work with, somewhat forgotten about Ruckman taken from Central Districts in the SANFL with pick 8 in the 2013 pre season draft iirc. Was linked to Melbourne and then taken by Freo. In his interview post being drafted you could visibly tell he was pissed to be moving across the other side of the country. He has played a dozen or so games 200cm 100kg, pick him up, get rid of Big Boy while he still has value. Only if we managed to pick up a replacement in Smith or Lycett. Lycett/Hannath woul be great, both South Aussie lads, roomies even :D I'm not sure what Lycett's contract status is.

Lycett isn't exactly a regular and with the way Collingwood, Giants, Bulldogs are coming on we will be the least of their worries by 2017, not saying we'll be cooked but there are some mighty impressive young teams coming along very nicely. Big Boy for Carlilse, lol.

Tige19 is more chance of running out for Hawthorn than Scott Lycett.

I get a feeling that our trade may be something like a Jor trade! Talented but unproven and wants out and doesn't cost more than 350k plus. This Bennell talk doesn't suit hawthorn! 600k?? With issues? No thanks.

He's 3rd in line, hardly senior top shelf.. If the player wants opportinities elsewhere they get them 9 times out of 10. Are you saying Lycett is happy to ply his trade at Peel when he's clearly senior material?

Why wouldn't he want to come to Hawthorn? Instantly becomes our best ruckman... And yes he's an upgrade on BB, and significantly.

Have to agree with this.

If he was a regular in the 22 it would be a different story.

West coast are not going to strengthen Hawthorn. End of story.

What's this Minson talk......we're going to rid ourselves of one 31 year old in Hale and replace him with another 30 year old in Minson.

I think our board should sign up for some illicit drug testing.

Some target testing would probably suffice and I would be happy to give them the targets

You don't write the story though.. and I'm not sure why West Coast wouldn't trade with us, it's not like there a sworn enemy.

Essendon gave up a favourite son to us when Fish Salmon came as a trade, why would they strengthen us? It's a want and need market mate, if you have something someone wants then you can facilitate it.

Hawthorn weren't challenging for a flag when Fish joined us, for starters.

Secondly, this entire Lycett discussion has been dreamed up in your head. There is no links, stories or rumours of him wanting to leave the Eagles, and especially not to Hawthorn.

I mean, we all once piled on the sarcasm towards Big Moose because he'd throw up any old name in threads like this and then we'd have 5 pages of discussion about a player that Hawthorn weren't even looking at, or talking to.... and that's exactly what the Scott Lycett stuff is. Pointless.

Last time I checked this thread was made for people to discuss trades and draft and FA right? If you don't want hypotheticals then maybe you should add that to the thread title? I agree with you that it's fanciful and made up regarding Lycett, however my point is geared towards the type of guys we should be aiming at.

Is that cool? Genuinely, if you want me to refrain from throwing up possible players we should aim just let me know. My brain works in different ways mate, if I thought in the same way as most then I'd probably have a boss and work 9-5 ;)

So I hear we are into Gablett Jnr, may be able to get him and Pendlebury on a 3-way swap that sees us losing Grimley, Shoey, Suckling and 2 3rd-rounders

But if that falls through, we might look at picking up Rivers as a delisted FA.

The thread title is pretty self explanatory, and then there's the fact we have a 'hypothetical' thread all of its own.

Let me file this alongside your "my wife has big boobs and I drive an expensive car".

There is a trade hypotheticals thread on this board. Though I do empathise with your desire to throw up hypothetical trade scenarios in this thread where the good discussion is happening rather than it being haphazardly slapped into a different thread between 13 club mega trades. Seems rather shallow to talk about potential targets and what not without addressing how they might actually occur in reality even if that's not how it unfolds at any level. At the same time there's only so many times you can read posts throwing up names of players we're never going to get or don't need for deals that will never be done due to being unbalanced and often convoluted.

Would be good if we could just have the one thread where it can all be discussed, including realistic trade hypotheticals that add some interesting and valuable discussion and aren't just an outlet for some to live out their AFL list management fantasies. (not aimed at you or your post about Lycett, tige19)

Na Cryptor, you're one of my favourite posters because you think laterally. All I'm doing is saying "hey this is the type we should go for, these are the reasons why".. I have said for a while now I think we will aim at soldiers rather than stars, guys that can play a role and could be gettable ala Lycett who is 3 deep and is obviously a top calibre ruck/forward.

Let's trade!
