I thought the look that Danger gave Hodge after copping a fair solid hip and shoulder was fair strange. It was a mix between -

"Bugger / Ow"
"Doesn't he know Im patty Dangerfield!?"
"What was that for?"
"You are mean..." and...
"Don't you WANT me to play for you next year!"

Mmm, same look Wingard gave him ;)

prob not worth much but Alastair Lynch on the bounce on fox footy alluded to not count the Hawks out in the race for Dangerfield.

Well, mit seems not to name your club of choice while they are still involved. Silence from Danger could mean we are still in the hunt. However, he might come out any day and let the world know.

Neither are or never will be in Bennell's class. I don't rate Danger, Fyfe or Priddis as nearly as high as others because they are average kicks. Our great game is called FOOTBALL for a reason. To answer your question they are both average kicks!

And yet all of them have a higher disposal efficiency than Bennell from having more contested possessions and clearances and less uncontested on the outside.....go figure.

Who would you take if given the choice, out of Danger and Bennell Dip?
Factoring in trades, money, years of service left, skill, off field troubles etc?

I'd take Bennell

I don't give a stuff about stats especially kicking efficiency, just the way the ball spins off someones boot. Bennell is technically a better kick.

That's tough. With Bennell at his price you could get 2 players for the price of 1 player.
But if you stick Dangerfield in our side next year, we have a contested clearance beast with explosive pace.....the combinations between the forward line and midfield rotations with Hodge mitchell Lewis Burgoyne etc would be endless.

If we could get a Bennell and a Treloar type for the coin that Dangerfield would get....then I'd be going the first option, but geez we will be giving up quite a bit...so on that note I'm torn. Salary cap vs 1st round picks then finding first round picks by trading players out.

I don't give a stuff about opinions on who you think is a better kick technically when you have nothing to back it up with.

I think Danger has better hair....the way the wind blows through it gives it extra volume.

We haven't got the salary cup space for Danger and he doesn't deserve to be Hawthorn's most highly paid player either. Bennell is a jet and will come a lot cheaper but at great risk.

When Bennell kicks a drop punt it spins like one, not a bloody helicopter like Danger and Fyfe. Is that the evidence you are looking for.

Ohh you're talking about a mis kick...sorry Hodge Mitchell Bennell aren't immune to that either.
Definitely not as much. Dangerfield is a an amazing player and i love watching him play but he kicks more mongrels (under loads of pressure at times) than most quality players.

I think you'll find that Dangerfield finds majority of his pill in a contested situation, our players not so much.
Hodge on the weekend had a higher contested ball ratio to uncontested, his efficiency suffered in terms of his yearly avg.
In fact out of the top 10 in contested ball getters only one player has a disposal efficiency in the 70's...thats Robbie Gray.
Most players can hit a target in an uncontested situation, chipping it around, once that contested to uncontested ratio changes, so does your efficiency....its definitive.
Its a croc of sh*t regarding Dangerfields disposal by foot.......He's an absolute gun, Clarko would be running laps naked around Waverley if we managed to get our hands on him.

While i agree with all of your post Dangerfield is not an elite kick. Hodge is elite. 10 straight from set shots this year for example. Kicking efficiency or disposal efficiency is a misleading stat with many variables. I would also run laps naked around Waverley if we landed him.

Just wanted to post how funny it is reading Bombers supporters thinking pick 5 is on the table for Jake Carlisle. I will spew if that happens.

To change tact slightly... Matt Crouch, still unsigned, played a bit of footy this year, any interest?

For me, yes, at the right price.
How does he compare to his brother Brad? Haven't seen much of Matt myself.
