It'll be interesting to see where Scheer goes with it being an even draft. If no-one bids before pick 10, GC don't have any later picks to match so they'll have to at least use pick 10 if they want him. Maybe they're happy to do that but I'd be looking to exploit academy kids as much as I could in their situation.

We'd have to pick Marshall there. Like Wright previously, he is being underrated on BF. I'd say Marshall and English are top 10 chances.

I'm a fan of Logue at our first, hopefully he lasts.

SPP with our second

Ok will add to options even though
I don't see WCE taking Marshall or English perhaps Freo could possibly take with their 1st pick inside Top 10 ..

Vozzo quoted as saying we won't necessarily take a mid with pick 12 but will go with best available

I assume this means that English(ruck), Marshall (KPF), or Logue (KPD) all come into the discussion should they still be in the board

https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/s...-eagles-still-keen-on-recruiting-drew-petrie/

Ignore the Petrie headline, the discussion re pick 12 is at the end of the article

Correct, that's what I assume our stance would be. We're actually short on development Rucks (none), KPF's (Allen and Lamb) and KPD's (None) given that Barrass has probably accelerated past expectations. At 12 we are perfectly poised to just take what slips through. Having said that, given the number of picks GCS have, I'd be surprised if they don't two of the three you mentioned.

There are 3 players from academy clubs that are likely to be taken before our bid - Bowes, Setterfield and Perryman. That meaning we probably go back 2 places to pick 14 since GC are likely will use one of their top 10 bids to take Bowes.

GC are critical in shaping the top 10 since they have 4, 6, 8 & 10. It is expected that the top 10 will mainly be midfielders. GC have stated they will be taking 5 picks hence they will be hoping that Brisbane do not make them match Bowes at 3 and can let him slide to their picks 6 or 8.

Carlton are being linked to Taranto or Brodie. Expect SOS to play some games forcing academy picks to be taken and an outside chance he grabs Scrimshaw.
Freo have not given much away and will probably have SPS and English to chose from. I can see either option being taken at 7.
Sydney - I want to know why they jumped up to 9? I believe they wanted to get ahead of us meaning they see a WA boy they fancy so could be Logue, English or SPS.
Norf - who knows what this club stands for anymore based on list management!!! Could be anything.

If we are taking Best Available as Vozzo states, then using Twomey's power rankings from 20th October, we have a cluster of Berry, Logue, Simpkin, Venables, Florent, Gallucci, Bolton and SPP to select from. Assuming none of the top 12 are there for our pick, I would prioritise them as Berry, Logue (assuming he can play midfield), Bolton, Florent, SPP then Venables. No love from me for Gallucci or Marshall.

Yeah, we're in an awkward position. We've invested so heavily in mids in recent years (during trade week and at the draft) we're now short of developing KPP/ruck.

I can see us going for KPP/ruck with Pick 12 but by Jebus do we need Yeo, Jetta and Redden to lift, as well as continual improvement from Sheed, Karpany, Duggan, Nelson, Partington and Cole. That's a lot of midfield-types we've brought in over the last 3 years.

I think we should still go best available mid in the first round and then go for KP players for the second rounder and hopefully third if no one picks up Waterman.

We are fine for defenders with Gov and Barrass still young but another KP project backman cannot hurt. Who in this draft i do not know.

A JK replacement is what i worry about since he is 30 late next year.

Allen needs alot of development still but did show some promise so i do hope we draft another KP forward.

If things went perfectly for us

Pick 12 : dockers go pommy and the first hyphen slides to us
Pick 34 : unfounded disposal concerns see the other hyphen pepper shaking at west coast
Pick 54 : the whizz from gero comes to match sampi's MOTY
Pick 106 : clear as mud

Rookies - not drew's son and the leather eating ruck that looks good for a win

Thats the ultimate preference.

I like mine better, you've put too much thought into yours

Mines the obelix to your asterix
As long as you are using vitalstatistix you can't go wrong

Agree on best available mid. Our KP stocks are good this year and next year we should be able to pick up Adams from the bulldogs. I'm confident JD will be good enough to be our number 1 forward in 2 years time. I actually think he already is. 50-60 goal forward in JK's absence. As long as we can provide a good supporting cast around him we'll be fine. Hopefully Waterman can produce (he's often compared to Gunston) and Gov can pinch.
