There is a small chance we could still get SPP even if we got English. That's very much a best case scenario though.

That being said, without being an expert, now that I've looked into it more my concern with English is that he seems to be more of an oversized mid and doesn't really have that ruck/forward skill set. I'm conflicted as I do think we need a young ruck on the list.
What successful team of the modern era used a top ten pick on a ruck?

Is Liam Ryan likely to be available at our second? Would it be reaching? Kid looks like he could be a real thing, if he can improve his endurance and is exactly the type of player we lack.

Dammit, ******* afl.priddis running a puff piece on Ryan.

Better cool that shit down or ima have a talk with Shifter. He doesn't seem too concerned with Ryans beep test results.
The state combine is on a single day while the National Combine is over the weekend. The big difference is the endurance tests where there is a much shorter recovery period for state triers. So there is an excuse of some sorts - his endurance is still rubbish and will be exposed unless he minimises the weakness.

Well you're kind of just limiting the analysis to a handful of teams there so I'm not sure that's the best research question. Also, we don't have a top 10 pick, it'll likely be 14. A better question would be: "Which quality rucks have been taken in the first round?".

The answer to that is probably only Naitanui off the top of my head, which is a fair point. It's too early to make the call on Longer or Wright, but guys like Gorringe and Vickery certainly haven't proven themselves worthy of the pick.

I'm fine with that logic although I do wonder how many quality rucks are available later in the draft. Lot's of good rucks were taken 30+ or even as rookies but we're looking at results from a period in which clubs seemed to put a lot less effort into drafting and had less information available to them.

I think we're due to add an 18 year old ruck that has prospects of taking over in 6 years with NN & Lycett are nearing the end. I'm not necessarily stating it has to be English but if there were to be a good ruck around 34 (which doesn't appear to be the case at this early stage) I'd be happy to take one.

I'm just playing a bit of devil's advocate here, I just want best available.

Are you saying we need a survey?

West Coast just playing Ducks and Drakes...... Unless your in the inner sanctum at WC no one really knows who we rate and what our line of thinking is on the respective players .

BOND 007 will have an idea but understandably he won't be able to shed any light on the Clubs thinking process until after the draft .

I have been following the drafts for more that a decade and IMO this is a very good Draft Class which goes much deeper than most years.

In ten years time we will look back on the 2016 cohort and admire the volume of quality players that is introduced to AFL.
Eagles are all over logue. Will jump at him if he's there at our first pick
