Jordan Thompson wins his semi in An-Ning after beating Nedovyesov 6-4 3-6 2-6. He plays Bourgue who is the 7th seed in the final (Thompson 2nd seed). Good chance here for him to win his second Challenger :)

Thompson wins the title in an-Ning and in doing so cracks the top 100 for the first time in his career. Great effort.

Great result for Thompson :thumbsu:

There is a bunch of Aussies playing in the Busan Challenger in Korea; Barton, Smith, Matosovic, Groth and Millman.

Millman is already into the second round thanks to the retirement of his opponent, Austin Krajicek, at the completion of the first set (6-1).

Oh dear, Groth has just been 'bundled out' of the Busan Challenger in the first round in 3 sets (6-7, 7-6, 7-5) by 334th ranked Ji Sung Nam... he really is out of form :$

He is in real trouble. He will be qualifying for challengers in a few months.

A good win by Marinko defeating Ito (number 105 in the world) after qualifying. To his credit he is fighting his way back up the rankings.

This year, Groth is 2-13 (0-4 @ challenger level) in singles as opposed to 12-7 in doubles (7-2 @ challenger level).

Guccione like?

It's very possible. Funnily enough they are former doubles partners, they both play serve & volley and they have big serves (Gucc is 4 inches taller tho). In spite of Groth reaching a career high singles ranking last year on the back of direct entry into Grand Slams for the 1st time (3R AO, 1R FO, 3R Wimby, 2R USO), he is what he is, a top 100 singles player at best and better suited as a doubles player.

Disappointing that we've seen a number of articles condemning both Tomic AND Kyrgios recently especially when we've seen Nick make an effort to get on with his tennis.

This including an author who put his name in the title

The thought of tennis brats Bernard Tomic and Nick Kyrgios marching at the Rio Olympics opening ceremony makes Jon Anderson feel sick

1 from bandana-wearing dickhead, FitzSimons wrt to only Tomic and a 2nd bite, 4 days later wrt to Tomic AND Kyrgios :

Grow up Bernard Tomic, you're embarrassing yourself and your country

Rio 2016: Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic don't represent Olympic values

Another Fairfax writer called Webster:

Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic facing uphill battle to compete at Rio Olympics

Another Fairfax piece featuring more of that cross between a Stepford Wife and famewhore, Kitty Chiller, and her ignorance:

Bernard Tomic put on notice for 'appalling behaviour' in Madrid

Conversely we have:

A Fairfax piece where TA boss, Steven Healy, defends Kyrgios in a kind of limp-wristed way (probably because TA are answerable to the AOC):

Bernard Tomic 'disrespectful', says Tennis Australia boss as Olympic selection debate rolls on

A Ninemsn piece where TA stooge, Woodbridge, defends Kyrgios in contrast to Tomic:

Kyrgios and Tomic different: Woodbridge

and a piece at The Roar which summarizes the biased media reports and condemns Chller's ignorance:

Nick Kyrgios has every reason to feel aggrieved

You know what is embarrassing? The media focus on the negative. ****ing disgraceful. Nick has been head down, bum up since September last year. Do these fools not realise this? Or will it take a quarter final/semi final showing at the French open for some positivity.

And another shock, Tomic has had a terrible clay season. Oh wait, same thing happens every year. He has had a decent year, clay court tournaments excluded.

An ugly Australian sports fan rears it's ugly head. If these misery guts keyboard warriors won a million dollars they would still find a way to whinge about it. Maybe we should bathe them in boiling oil just to teach them a solid lesson about the privilege of being a sports fan.
