7 Mcg home games... Not that much travel... Spaced out tough games... Good finish to the season.. Week off after round 24.

Best fixture for years for us.

Fitzpatrick has decided that his hatred of us winning over and over is less than his hatred of Collingwood, so he is giving us an even chance to get the 4-peat.

Jon Ralph is saying to move the Brownlow to the week off. State of Origin/All Stars type game with players from the teams that didnt make the finals for the weekend off.

Good idea as long as top players go. Or they make it an Under 22 game where the kids get a chance to make some coin. I bet Channel 7 would love it.

9, possibly 10 thurs/fri night games and 0 sat night games wtf, sat night is the best night.

That also annoys me. I'm not a fan of Friday night games and I can at least take my older children to Saturday night games.

Fox has described the fixture as being family friendly, but I'm not sure I agree with him.

However, I should hasten to add that the fixture isn't too bad, all things considered, though there are some surprising outcomes, such as playing Collingwood only once in the season in the last round, Geelong only once in the first round, etc.

they finished 10th this year, cant give us too many games against minnows from the bottom 8 :thumbsu:

It's how the AFL structures the fixture now. Top six, middle six and bottom six. Geelong finished in the middle six group, together with Richmond, so I think the AFL figured to give the Hawks two games against the Tigers, which meant that they couldn't give the Hawks two games against the Cats.

I dont think its that easy of a draw..

"REIGNING premier Hawthorn will face a tough start to 2016, facing six of this year’s finalists in the first nine rounds."

Its ok for mine.

Pros:
- Sydney x 2 - aren't the team they were. Should bank 2 wins.
- Geelong x 1 - will be better, no Lake genuinely concerns me. Has killed Hawkins for 3 years now.
- Collingwood late - all foreplay at the start of the season, will die late.
- Fremantle down in tassie is hilarious - boy that will piss them off
- Port x 1 - have the wood on us in home and away
- WB once - sounds odd but this for me is good. They run and move the ball like Port which I reckon will trouble us.
- Melbourne x 2 - enough said.

Cons:
- Richmond x 2 - play their GF against us every year
- Freo once - 1 x 8 point game is disappointing

Hawkins best is behind him.

We dont seem to play anyone who finished above us for 3 years in a row now

The most recent time we played against someone who finished above us the previous year was the 2013 Qualifying final

I would have thought the AFL would have learned their lesson after Carlton x2 last year. If they're serious about equalising, why two games against Melbourne?

We were always getting Melbourne and Richmond as the double up games as the AFL stated months ago that the top team would play the 7th and 13th placed teams on the ladder twice along with 3 of the top 6 which was easy to pick as well- WCE because they were in the GF, Sydney ditto previous year plus buddy. Only double up that wasn't certain was North- could have been Adelaide.
I picked these 5 teams in the thread weeks ago ;)

Now that the Cats are becoming easybeats we only play them once! :D

Well, they gave us Melbourne twice, so I guess that negates things...

But then...Richmond twice - I saw what you did!

This is a very odd draw, I must say! Hawthorn scheduled to play the Lions at the Gabba is kind of good. Only meeting with Collingwood in the final round. Not sure what to make of it. At least it's not as predictable as previous years.

Same thing happened with Collingwood recently. We used to play them up to 3 times a year (home and away plus sometimes a final) but now we only get them once. For next year it looks like the AFL almost forgot to give us a match against them.

The AFL is a bit stupid money-wise on this one! Seriously, the two biggest clubs by membership only playing once?

This really is a dream draw! We should be well setup at the bye and then the back to back tough interstate trips. My only annoyance is the 5 week period in June/July where there are no games in Melbourne. AFL should really not let this happen.
