You realize that GWS is not a basket case any longer and needing to take mediocre players from other teams.....
They're a gun side filled with talent that is not hopelessly lost or lacking leadership.
If you want to stump fringe Hawk players to someone, stick to the GC footy club.

GWS would only be interested in absolute quality, and because of an openly distorted drafting system have talent in reserve they can offer up in return. No problem getting a fair deal from that club if you want to haggle, but know you'll be giving up a genuinely classy player in return.

What are you talking about...did I mention GWS? I'm talking about not trading Bruest to anyone...and if we want to offer players up that you think are mediocre then I would be looking in those drawers.

Understand what you're saying but TOB isn't worth anything more than a can of coke and chips and I don't think Gus is worth anything more. We have to give up something to get something, it may or may not be Punky, like you I'd prefer to stay away from players like him but I also understand what the realities are.

We all thought Cheney wasn't worth a can of coke as well. He's playing in the back pocket of a team..some are toting as premiership candidates. It's horses for courses. What we see as mediocrity....another team will and can develop into their system and needs. >> Menegola.

TOB is a better tackler also. Always attacks the hips and rarely misses a tackle. Some extra size and some one clunk grabs is really all he needs to take his game to another level

TOB 14 games for 31 tackles
Siss 21 games for 37 tackles

Neither is great IMHO. Take out the fact that TOB started with 9 in his first two games and they've been pretty much the same all year.

:(

Definitely plenty of work needed for both of them. Sicily for mine tends to be one of those that far too often gets fended off or gets shrugged off with a tackle which is so frustrating. O'Brien better at holding his tackles but lacks the positioning and is far too often caught behind and ends up having to be defensive.

Do you mean Eli Templeton? If so, don't Zac Webster and he mirror each other all too much already? Enough said on that idea.

Yeah.. So...
You seem to want to pick holes in a few things I have posted rather bluntly.
Pull your head in mate or provide something to discuss

There's no way the club would trade Bruest. I've been reading pages and pages of this silliness. He's our most dangerous close to goal....we would shoot a big hole out of our forward line doing this. He's been developed..more dangerous than Puopolo.
Look elsewhere for a trade like Litherland..Tim O'Brien...etc. These guys have potential and have been in the Hawthorn system now for awhile..so there is collateral there.
Good post, why would you trade a proven performer coming into their prime?
Breust stays, we don't trade our good players. When was the last one?

Sorry Baz but O'brien is a terrible tackler, the majority of his tackles are broken or he simply is just not strong enough to hold on. I agree with you though, that if he can start holding onto his attempt at marks he will become a very valuable prong in our forward line in the future.

I honestly think the club has O'Meara and T.Mitchell sewn up, I mean if they didn't have something in the works that was more than a maybe that a player or players would come why wouldn't they:
a) Sign Hodge and co to the same sort of money as they are on this year for next, it wont hurt the cap at all for 1 year!
b) A player or players say I would like to go there but will look at other options as well, the club could go to Hodge and co and tell them they might have a player or 2 so wait to see what happens with that and if it doesn't work out will sign you for next year on the same money and if it does we will sign you on for less ( what they have signed on for now).
So if im right (and im not usually right about much just ask my missus) and they have these 2 guys committed to coming in to the club and are confident they'll be able to get them, then ill go out on a limb and say that they have already got a player in the current side that has agreed to be traded, apart from Hill IMO

I am going in to bat for TOB here.
His tackling IMO is better than Sicily Hill Hartung Birchall ( this year) & probably a few others as well. In the early games he played I thought his pressure inside 50 was pretty good & his work around the ground wasn't much worse than anyone else.

* off topic -
He was asked to play a KPF role with almost zero support bigger bodies like Cegs & BB.
If he were allowed to play the 3rd tall & rotate onto a wing you would see vastly different numbers from him, not only with possession but goals & goal assists as well.
So I agree with your last sentence:)

Sure, tackling is a big part of the modern day game, but it's an indication of how hit and miss Sis and especially TOB's seasons have been that we're resorting to comparing their tackling ability. They're big(ish) forwards, in an ideal world we'd be comparing far better goal and contested marking averages. Loathe to give up TOB as I feel there's still some untapped potential there but to get something we have to give up something.

I would prefer not to trade Sicily as he is a young player with ability, but I don't consider him untouchable.

O'Brien has next to no trade value. He's ordinary.

I can't see us trading Hartung either. Not many of our young ones hold much currency...
I wouldn't be giving out Lovell, Burton...

Willsmore probably doesn't have any currency, O'Rourke came to Vic to come home... Brand is out of contract so not sure on him... we got Howe & Heatherley. Litherland would probably only go to WA. Schoenmakers maybe, but our KPP's depth isn't good.
