A deal gets done because he is a priority for Carlton and we don't want to lose him for nothing. There will be back and forward and a little agro at times but eventually a deal will be done and we'll move forward.
I want and expect a deal done. But dont get people saying we can send him to another club, that's all.

Ok but he can refuse to go there as I understand it. That still means all Carlton have to do is then make an offer. I get it would take balls but he would know SOS and presumably trust there was a Carlton offer coming.

If he nominates for the draft he has to go where he is selected or sit out an entire season.

His main objective is to get to Melbourne so that won't be an issue. Tbh going to Essendon would have been a smarter move but he's clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Don't even panic, this will be an easy deal. Lobb is our player to be nervous about.

Only in GWS land is pick 20 a 'junk pick'.
What use is it to us?

Rightly or wrongly we have top picks and a shrinking list.
The AFL, thanks to crybaby vics, have changed the academy rules.

As such picks or players who are not of high value are a waste.

Get over yourself. Maybe stop trying to be our neafl side.

I'm not panicked, if he wants to go then he should go IMO, prefer he stayed but too late for that now. I also prefer he went where he wants to go, and I wish him well. I'm not one to hate players much, battled with Treloar a bit.

Thank you for the clarification re draft

As for Lobb I doubt very much he will emulate McCarthy so next year not an issue. Stand by for resign end of season is my guess. South freo already have a runner, how many WAFL clubs would have that spot open anyway.

I don't agree with you.

I'd say they are trying to be the Redland NEAFL side.

I know you guys are probably more focused on finals right now, but anyone want to take a guess on the number of empty list spots you'll enter the draft with?

We need to lose three anyway. That includes Marchbank and McCarthy. While I think there is some cap pressure, it's nowhere near as big as Damian Barrett claims it is so I also see us dropping another one or two, even though we don't have to.

Would we need pick 1 for McGrath? He's projected 5-10 and we have a pick there and possibly another via Carlton.

McGrath reminds me of Zac Williams from his highlights.

TBF there are about 7 - 8 players who could go in any particular order, it simply depends on which club picks who first. The only given, is that Jack Bowes will be a GCS player. He is probably the standout player in this years draft crop.

I'm more interested in how it effects your draft.

Go in with 4 spots to fill & you may just grab your academy boys. You have more than enough picks for that already, so for Marchbank you'd be after future picks.

Go in with 5 spots to fill & maybe you want a pick before any academy bids come. Then a trade for Marchbank would involve pick 5.

Either way our 2nd round pick is useless so don't see it being part of the trade.

Sorry but who is McGrath? I've heard lots of names bandied about with this year's draft crop, but that's one I've not heard of before. Details?

179 cms midfielder who played a bit down back this year.

He is lively and agile and has a very good burst of acceleration. He is a super athlete and elite at a bunch of sports as well as a runner. As I said his play reminds me of Zac Williams.

I thought we were looking for a small forward in which case the guy is Ainsworth outside our Academy lads.

I love the idea of Bruest, and guess we have the currency if the desire is there. Hawks board thought Kelly and Wiĺliams a fair trade, which obviously aint gunna happen.

Marchbank and OUR first and Geelong's first for their pick 5 and third/fourth rounder seems fair. They can use those 2 late first rounders to trade back up again.

IF Tomlinson wants to go to blues as well with Marchbank then pick 5 and a swap of second rounders would be fair also.
