If General left GWS the ONLY reason would be to get home to Victoria.

Why would you go through all the struggles, get yourself better, start being a genuine force, and then leave all of that to trek 5 times further from your family and play for a celler dweller with no chance of challenging for the duration of your career??

It doesn't make sense because it is complete balls.

Patton along with Cogs and Haynes are probably the guys who have settled most into Sydney and would be the toughest to move

I wonder what journalist will make up the biggest trade fibb in the next few weeks that is completely untrue??
The problem is that they rarely get called out on it because it's all behind closed doors.

But believing anything on Twitter or Facebook posted by some anonymous name is as dumb as believing SEN callers or RandomJoe on BigFooty.

Word on the Paer Board is that we're into Barrett (no Steele :( ).I know that he's a mid with rugby background but was wondering where he's at from a list management point of view and what you guys reckon a trade would look like involving him to us.

Maybe remove the picture of one of our players injured and post on the trade hypotheticals thread.

I'm assuming it was an avatar for the finals. Lots of people seemed to change their avatar and I don't think it's particularly disrespectful that it's a picture of a bandaged Greene. If I had to pick a Geelong one, for example, it would probably be of a head-bandaged Selwood. Shows they're tough, it's not necessarily an injury troll.

As to Established 1870, I'm not sure where the Paer board is.....

He continually racks up the possessions in the NEAFL (bearing in mind that it is the NEAFL), but I'm not entirely convinced he's up to the speed of AFL. Not sure how much of a rugby background he actually has. If there's any there it would be League for a start, not rugby (they play very little rugby in regional NSW) he is the cousin of Trent Barrett of St George fame and now Manly coach - but he is also the cousin of Luke Breust.

He would be cheap and reasonable depth. You wouldn't be getting a star midfielder, but you'd be getting a serviceable on at a good price.

Yeah if you'd seen the posting about Toby and his punchable face, and our plactic franchise maybe you would see my point of view. I'm in no doubt it is disrespectful to have a picture of an injured player on you Avatar.

If/when we lose McCarthy, Marchbank, Stewart, Steele and WHE our depth chart will look like this:

KD: Davis, Haynes, Patfull, Tomlinson

HD: Shaw, Williams, Wilson,

Ruck: Mumford, Simpson? Himmelberg

Inside-mid: Ward, Coniglio, Shiel, Hopper, Kennedy

Outside-mid: Griffen, Whitfield, Scully, Kelly

HF: Greene, Johnson, D.Smith, Ahearn, Pickett

KF: Cameron, Patton, Lobb?

Likely academy picks are - ranked by Knightmare - Perryman (6), Setterfield (7), Mutch (12) and Macreadie (outside 20). These four would probably use up all our current draft picks (7, 15, 16, 31, 33…) - Not accounting for any upcoming trade sourced picks, however many of these will probably be for future drafts.

This academy only draft haul would give us another 3 relatively slow inside-mids and Macreadie, a versatile defender that could play both D positions. He’s must have for me because we have too many inside-mids. Maybe move Ward back to halfback? Already made Greene a great half forward!

I would re-sign Simpson and try and use our trade currency to chase KD, HD, HF, KF and Ruck to eventually replace the likes of our elder statesmen Griffen, Johnson, Patfull, Shaw, Mummy etc.

Lobb is a key signature for me. And backup for Mummy as we all know is critical and can derail us.
Lots of midfield. Replacing Griffen, Steele and even Treloar isn't a problem.

If this happens, I really hope the club has secured some assurances that McGrath is the kind of kid that will give an interstate career a go.

I think they have done a lot of due dilligence in that regard and see him as very professional and in the Josh Kelly mould attitude wise.

As he is not a consensus number 1 it is a somewhat risky play, but given we are just about guarenteed to collect top 15 talents in Setterfield and Perryman it is probably mitigated.

That said if we couldn't construct a deal and ended up with an Ainsworth (5) and Scrimshaw (7) I wouldn't be disappointed either.

Ainsworth would cover the small forward need and Scrimshaw could replace Marchbank.

Yeah. We wouldn't want a more expensive Marchbank.

Step 1) Ensure he's not managed by either Liam Pickering or Colin Young.
Step 2) Ensure not a Mummy's boy.

Add Connors to your step 1!
But yes you guys would need an assurance the kid would be in for the long haul before trading it with us. Personally I'd be stoked if my son was in the draft and picked up by you guys. What kid wouldn't want to win GF's and play in a successful side

Talk this morning is that there is a proposed 3 way deal in the works with McCarthy moving to Fremantle, Ballantyne moving to West Coast and Eric Mackenzie joining the Giants.

Apparently we are heavily into 2014 West Coast Club Champion Mackenzie.

I'd love this to happen as Mackenzie would give us some good depth down back but West Coast apparently want some more.

:rolleyes:Given our NEAFL backline, we need depth down back?
