Much prefer u19s on a Friday night. Could kick off @530pm & play 2 games at each venue. Big crowds , $$ spent over bar. Worked a treat 25yrs ago at epping. Then the young boys have all weekend to party up. You'd get more involved.

I remember Macleod hosting the odd Friday night under 19 game back when they were in Div 2.

Problem at the moment is that not every club, in fact only a few clubs, have lights that are up to playing standard.

The lights always an issue. Going off memory Id say epping , sth morang , Mernda x2 , Whittlesea , d/creek , watsonia? , of the div2 grounds would all have sufficient lights. That's at least 6-7 grounds to hold 12 matches on.
It's a struggle for numbers across all leagues when playing sat morns. Work/party etc all take preference to 9am footy. Friday night you'd have 4 teams at each venue , blokes coming home from work looking for a refreshment would drop in to their local ground. Crowds would be a lot better than the 20-30 people who currently get there early to watch the young fellas. I remember Epping used to get 200-300 hundred in on a for day night , terrific atmosphere. Clubs would make a few grand off of it . Win/win

How good were watsy this year?

Will shit div 2 in
I am not knocking what watsy did this year but i think your way off the mark with you comment. I reckon they will be just hoping to be competitive and stay up in their first year in div two.As it is a jump in standard of play and players, watsy will have to recruit some players and have to find more $ in the player budget. It is hard to go up a division and stay up just ask south morang and whittelsea I hope watsonia do well and avoid being a yoyo

Hearing a bit of chat that a few of reservoirs old premiership crew have signed on at St Mary's for next season and with Docherty potentially staying at the kennel that's gotta be a disappointing for the Mustangs, you would think those boys would be happy to get back and play for the team they won a premiership with 2 years ago?

You reffering to Omeara and the big ruckman? They struggled at div 3 level. Wrong signings for st.marys. has Borgy signed on again? Those 2 getting picked up reacked of desperation

I would not say they struggled. O'Meara would certainly have kicked more goals if his teammates did not crucify the ball. Nothing wrong with his contribution. As for Keyes came midway through the season and held his own in the ruck. Both provide valuable experience to what is still a young side.

Not sure what you were watching. Keyes was as mobile as a goalpost and Toby moved like his matchies were in his pocket

Struggled in his last year at Reservoir I thought and couldn't get a game at wallan by all reports. I'm sure he serves a purpose for St Mary's though
