Congrats on the McCarthy trade, you really made out like bandits there. Giving up a drop of 4 in the first round and getting a good young forward, picks 34 and 72 would certainly do for me. Anyway, I was here to ask if anything is going on about Mayne. All I can find are a few AFL and Pies stories stating their interest in him. Looking at what happened with Vickery and Wells and remembering that the compo is based more on the new contract than anything, you'd probably be looking at what they got, round 2 compo which would be pick 23. Would that be used on Hill?

Almost definitely. Something strange would have to happen to avoid that. Possibly we give them our newly acquired pick 34 but would highly doubt it.

I doubt it. Plenty of other good talent around at that pick e.g. Brodie if he drops, SPS, Bolton, Berry, Taranto, Scrimshaw and either Logue or Rotham.

Maybe Lloyds comment about our ruck situation was a red herring but I just don't see English in purple myself.

7 will be SPS or Taranto hopefully. Would be happy to reach for Logue but not English, get him cheap in a few years when he wants to come home but is still too raw to have developed.

Of the 6 Picks in front of us, GWS will most likely have 2 of them. I'm sure there was a handshake deal that GWS wouldn't pick who we were after, so in effect this trade only dropped us 1 spot - it looks better and better...

Good point - presuming we did reach some sort of agreement with GWS.
