Irrelevant really. Our team dragged an average ruckman in McEvoy to 2 flags. No disrespect to him, as he is a serviceable player, but that is all he is. We were able to win flags with Campbell and Renouf. I don't think Mcevoy has ever put in form for us better than that of Campbell's.

IF there are no available ruckman, then Mcevoy has to stay, however if there is a servicable ruckman available that will compete (Think Hampson, Witts, Lobbe, Giles ect) that is ready to play then we are not really going to lose much on field.

Have you been living under a rock the past 3 years? McEvoy is significantly better than Campbell, Reno, Taylor, and has been a major contributer to our last 2 premierships. He's not your typical athletic tap down ruckman but he competes as well as any other ruckman we've had in the past 10 years, and is one of maybe 3 players on our list who regularly marks over his head.

Probably because he is 22 and hasn't showed one passage of play where you think he will make it, besides reports early pre season where he was best on in an intra club. Kid needs to back himself and play with some confidence
Oh come off it. He's not kicking ass yet but he's done some good things

No mate. I have been watching my team, and Mcevoy might be better than Campbell, barely. He was better than Renouf and taylor though, but he is not that great, has not been a "major" contributor to our premierships, can't tap, and certainly takes no where near as many marks as you are implying.

If you subbed McEvoy out with someone like Sam Naismith or Scott Lycett during those premiership years, we still would have won those flags.

But will he be on our list in 2017?

You're comparing him to what you think a ruckman should be. McEvoy was targeted to play the exact role he plays. We don't rely on a large number of hit outs and his role is be a big body and provide overhead support or at the least, and get his 10-15 goals a year. He's not a superstar but he does exactly what the coaches ask of him.

Not saying that we should go after him but......

Was going to be an absolute jet until his injury. Lewis was just saying on 360, and I remember it too, that he killed us that day.

Interesting to see if anyone takes a chance. Curious to know how he went in the WAFL last year.

Agree, could've been anything but cruelly cut down. Wouldn't touch him though, now needing surgery for a torn quad, unfortunately muscle strains can be an ongoing side effect after so many injuries like this. We have Burton, are chasing JOM I don't think we can risk 3 spots on the list for blokes with so many ? over their longevity

Take Robbie every day of the week and even next week, plus the week after that to.

This overhead marking you speak off, is that the 3 marks a game he averages?

Woke up this morning feeling confident on JOM and Tom Mitchell and will be going to bed a hell of a lot less confident on JOM and not too sure why my mind set has changed on it

Which player was it in 2008 when Campbell ran past him getting up off the ground on the wing and hipped him straight back into the turf? Loved his physical aggression.

Joel Corey? Can't remember. But he gave a ripper interview the other day, he said he gets more nervous now watching than he ever did when he played. The guy still lives and breathes hawthorn

I'm relaxed for the main reason that I know that even if we didn't land one of them the club would have a plan B or even C and would likely still come out on top...but still good for reassurance

I look at it like this -

100% we will get one
50% we get both

If the ladder happens then I think we'll be able to go to the draft which is midfield heavy and deep, we will also be sniffing around guys like Rockliff/Steele and who knows who else. This will be a very good trade and FA period for the club, huge chance to smash open another window.
