Richmond in : Stewart and Hoskin Elliot

GWS in : Deledio & pick 6.

Thoughts ?

GWS would take that and run to the hills. A trade like that, bringing in a player like Deledio and another top Pick which they could then on trade for another quality mature type player, combined with he continued natural development of their still young team could win them a premiership.

Terrible deal for Richmond.

Conveniently ignoring the fact that Boyd's contract is front loaded and we were apparently the other option for Hurley - who just resigned at Essendon for around 800K. If Fyfe could cope with 800K per year to be in a successful side, we can accomodate him.

Didn't know it was front loaded, either way massive overs for him easily the most over payed player in the comp. He is now at least holding down a spot in your best 22 not getting payed a mil to play in the VFL.

Question is with boyd on massive money if fife where to take 800K for a chance at success which wouldn't surprise me who would it cost you ? can't have Boyd on what is it 7mil over 7 ? then add Fyfe at 800 what happens when clubs come chasing the Bont for 1 mil a year and through big $$ at Stringer ?

Cant you see ever landing Fyfe paying Boyds Salery without you guys loosing a top end player in order to fit the salary cap… which is exactly why Tom Mitchell is leaving Sydney, isn't prepared to stay for much lower money then we can get elsewhere.

Rockliff to anyone for a top 10 pick - GCS?
.
Top 10 pick + pick 20/Green/Gardiner to Essendon for pick 1.

No. You downgrade pick 1 for a gun, not someone like Green or Gardiner.

Sorry, I meant top 10, 20 and Green or Gardiner (if wanted)
Again, not good enough. If we wanted Green we'd go for a late swap. It'd have to be something like:

The top 10 pick + a gun. And you don't have anybody other than Schache that we'd do and you'd be crazy to do that.

I actually don't mind Dunn as a footballer...Looks like I'm on my own however.
Perhaps I've only happened to catch his good games.
I think Dunn still has some good footy in him. Coaches clearly went with youth down back and I think Dunn was left somewhat frustrated playing VFL. However probably only fetch a pick in the fifties. Forties if we're lucky.

Reckon Dixon pushes him close in the overpaid stakes, but that's another topic.

As far as I know, it's 6.2 million over 7 years (first year was standard 200K second year player payment), not $7M over 7 years (only a small difference I know).

Some other points to consider: we have Bont, Stringer, Macrae, Hunter, Libba etc all locked away on long term deals. If we were prepared to offer Hurley 800K over 4/5, surely that means we think we can actually offer that to someone and then still be able to keep our players.

Sure, other clubs will come after our young guns and we might have to lose someone, that's the way the system is designed to work. But given what we've done so far, we're not doing too badly in the list development stakes and I'm backing our guys in to keep the list together as best they can. Also, if you look at the team, it's clear they love playing for the coach, the club and each other - which may help in some of them accepting a bit less than market value.

In addition, the SC is meant to rise in the next year or two across all clubs, which will allow us to increase our offer to some of the younger guys that will have earned a pay rise or two.

Now, we may not believe that we can get Fyfe - or anyone of that level - but to just dismiss it 'because we have T Boyd hur dur derp....' is clearly stupid and shows little to no understanding of the SC or our list management.

Dunn is cooked and is also the biggest flog of a bloke you will ever meet

I would mind us picking him up for a few years if we lose Brown (very likely and trade E-Mac which is possible).
Could do far worse although I can see him moving west for a 2yr deal.

GC get: Bruest, hawks first rounder, and Anthony Miles

Hawks get: Omeara and Brandon Ellis

Tigers get: Prestia and Hartung

Why would Hawthorn give away literally their only good young mid for Ellis?
